You're wrong dude. Cintron was just beat by a better fighter point blank. I think Cintron faught as well as he could be like the first time around Marg was too much of a "KILLER" for Killer Kermit. Kermit started late, he has talent and he did extremely well for such a late start in Boxing. Most wouldn't have made a dent at all in the pro ranks....Kermit is a two time Champ. He can't beat the best but he's a decent contender and measuring stick for boxers with pedigree and talent. Kermit was trying to win when he knew he couldn't really hurt Marg...he still tried and that shows HEART.
to me, he is a a medical wonder. he has fathered a child without having any balls. thats unheard of!!!!
He would have lost to Williams.....I think it was good that he tried Marg again to reverse hsi only loss and try to get some of what he lost in his first brutal beating at the hands of Antonio. Paul didn't look good with Carlos but I honestly think he took him lightly....but that is an excuse and there are no good excuses in boxing unless it's clear cheating.
I always thought it was an off night for Williams more so than anything else but maybe him taking Carlos for granted may have also contributed to his downfall. Sometimes when you start buying into your own hype that is when things can go terribly wrong. I watched the Cintron/Margo II fight again and Cintron didn't look that bad the second time around in all honesty. He never stopped throwing shots even when Margo was tatooing him to the head and body. Cintron has a very solid chin as well and ate quite a few big shots without doing a chicken dance like Zab. I think between all the ripping body shots and headshots from a heavyhanded fighter he was a bit worn out from the attrition yet still managed to wing big shots back at Margo until the liver shot did him in. Otherwise the fight may have went a few more rounds. Judging from his performance I think Cintron will still be able to destroy most welters if he comes in with a do or die mentality like he had against Margo. Ideally he should be mixing in more boxing in between his slugging from now on to stop from being a one trick pony that can only go for the knockout. As a matter of fact, Steward should force him to box and jab more in his next fight and try NOT to go for a knockout until the late rounds just to get him used to the idea of winning a fight on points. He seems to think that he needs to kill every opponent to win a fight sort of how Wlad fought when he was younger. There's no shame in going out on your shield against someone that owned you badly before. In fact, it probably took a lot of guts to ask for the rematch knowing full well the same result could happen again so I have to give him credit for trying to conquer his inner demons. The result notwithstanding, Cintron could conceivably come back stronger. His efforts that night would have won him the fight against most welterweights to be fair. Just my two cents.
:good I agree with your post.....I'm not sure about Cintron though...I think the two losses in such devastating fashion may take more of his heart and confidience needed to compete at this level. I think he'll always question himself when he's on the BIG STAGE!
I havent seen anyone give props here to Kermit Cintron. The dude didnt have to seek a rematch with Margarito but he wanted a chance to get some get back. We all know it didnt work out too well for him but at least he perfomed a little better and didnt break himself down. The kid showed heart and courage and simply lost to the better fighter. I dont wanna be like other poor fans and say he was overated or overhyped etc etc. I prefer to give him credit for stepping up instead of finding excuses like others have done. So props to Cintron, I hope he gets his career back on track cause he's still a very good boxer and is fun to watch. http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=59025
I don't think he's a bad guy or anything, and when it looked like there was a chance he may have been on the incline and learning how to deal with pressure fighters, I was as excited as anyone else. Who wouldn't be, with that punch of his? The fact remains that he simply hasn't got the intangibles, and at this point that should be clear to everyone including him and his handlers. Nice run, couple of decent paychecks and titles, still a fairly respectable pro record in the books. Time to move on, as the only other direction available is down.
He lost to the better fighter. Doesnt mean he still cant have a solid career going forward. I wouldnt be that suprised if he beat Quintana and/or PW. Dont see him ever beating AM or Cotto though. In short, I think you guys are overeacting a bit to his losses to one man.
Two things Kermit has to address, one is he has no patience, the other he is kinda ******ed. Round 1 of the Marg fight he should of realised at the end of this round that the outside fighting was actually working, he easily won this round picking him off, this was probably Manny's advice how to win this fight, instead he got over confiedent in round 2 looking for massive shots, which Margarito figured out right away and got him to trade inside. Even round 3 where before the round he probably got ticked off for trading cause he again went outside and did well, but couldnt resist going back in looking to KO Margarito who just walked through him and Marg basically ripped his heart out and Kermit offered nothing afterwards. Anyone with decent skills are gonna beat Cintron. He probably needs a FMJ Sr as trainer but if he went there he would advise him to retire.
bunch of cintron haters he was landing bombs on AM. AM shook them off no problem. cintron doesnt have the skill to box AM and his defense is one of the worst ive ever seen if he was looking for an out he would have done it earlier. instead he took over 200 power punches in 6 rounds. thats shows toughness. i dont care what you say
Quintana and the still-green PW are both a class above Margarito. Cotto is two. Cintron is on the same level as AM, just faces an inconquerable styles disadvantage and lacks the mental discipline to even come close to negating that.
