Works for me. Iv been doing it for 6 years now. At the end of the day its diffrent strokes for diffrent folks. Regimes are subjective depending on peoples preferences. But only those that arent hollistic enough with there work out regimes complain about adding weight lifting routines in there programs. The facts remain it works. End of story. Theres no questioning this.
I've never claimed to know a thing about boxing. RDJ knows a lot more about nutrition than me. Again, I've never claimed to know anything about nutrition. To be honest most bodybuilders know **** all. The reason they get so big is because they eat a ton and are on steroids... I've never claimed to be an expert. What do you expect, just because I say do squats and deadlifts I should be 250lbs of pure muscle with 3% bodyfat? I'd love to see you do deadlifts with no legs. I like the way you've picked me out of the 4-5 other people saying this guy is talking complete bollox.
I think most would agree that spending so much time doing slow distance aerobic runs is somewhat pointless for a sport which is thought to be around 80-90% anaerobic (depending on style). HIIT training is far more effective. Also, boxingtactics07 made a full post on why that routine is **** which was pretty much the exact same things I said. Why are you not saying the same to him? RDJ said the nutritional advice is BS. Why are you not saying the same to him? The guy said himself keep the weight lifting time low. He then goes on to give 4 or more isolation lifts per body part most of which I can do in 1-2 lifts. Not very efficient. Plus the fact the human body doesn't use one muscle group at a time so why train that way? Again, boxingtactics07 made a full post on why that routine is **** which was pretty much the exact same things I said. Why are you not saying the same to him? I never claimed my way is the only way.
Having a bodybuilder make a weight routine for a boxer is stupid. Hatton should be doing strength training with a professional strength coach to enhance functional strength not a body building routine with a bodybuilder.
I agree with most of what Virus and others such as the esteemed RDJ have posted. I will however take what Scurla pointed out a bit further. Dogma is for idiots and everybody reacts in different ways than others to the same routine.
I appreciate the critiscism lads, makes interesting reading but when you see hatton fight you can see a fighter in great shape! has power! great movement and speed! alot of this is down to the help of kerry kayes..
Virus has brought up some valid points: 1. Bodybuildng training is not for boxers 2. Isolation exercises are not functional, and provide a greater risk of injury as the 1 joint takes all the pressure. Not an acceptable risk when dealing with high level athletes. 3. The days of just completing endurance runs are far gone. Yes, you can get by by just doing them, but you'll get far greater results with Intervals. The training program shown would be valuable during an athlete's return from a break, but you wouldn't expect him to be doing it within 2-3 months of a major fight.
