new lineage is going to be established at the end of this and the ring belt should be awarded.

I do not see how anyone can not be excited at this. this is the start of a new era where the alphabet belts are going to become worthless

Is there a reason participants are being segregated by race? :?

Can't have it looking like a hate crime's going down by having either the black or white guy be outnumbered in the picture.

Seriously though, it's probably a region thing where race is a coincidence. The 3 Euro fighters, and then the 3 US ones.

I suppose...although Europe isn't a country. :think If it were a continental thing, that'd make sense. Yet another reason it's too bad Bute's not involved. If he were to take his picture with the American boys, we'd know it wasn't a race thing. Then again, he could technically be in the Euro photo op. :!: My brain hurts.

team euro vs team usa looks likely.

Kess has gota be the favourite and even though Abraham looks small he is in with a good chance, im pickin him to stop JT.

God damn, does this mean we've got a year of U-S-A chanting to look forward to?
That sure got old fast on the UFC9 competition.

Still, this is the sort of thing you dream about as a fan of the SMW division. Kessler will be really hungry after a year or so in the wilderness. I'd expect him to look to make a big statement and he's an obvious favourite.

    Anyone could win this tournament.

I can easily see Jermain get a good win over AA and from there on gain the confidence that boosts him to a level where he defeats the rest..

I can also easily see Abraham get 6 points from the first rounds and then revenge his points loss with a KO win in the final.

I can also.... Kessler, Froch etc..

Right now Direll and Ward are the two least experienced ones. Personally I think Direll is an incredibly exciting fighter and that he can go all the way. Ward is one of the best American prospects for years, but I wonder if starting out with Kessler is a bit too much too soon. Kessler in 2011 would be better for Ward I think... on the other hand - there really is no easy option here... It is just foot to the metal in every fight. Every single fight in this tournament would be a super fight under normal circumstances - and here we get them all lined up. Really incredible!

Just take the fight fight - Arthur Abraham vs Jermain Taylor!!! A super fight at MW and now at SMW... and we will really see it happen!!

    Sweet.... sweet...
