Anyone else well impressed with Kessler last night.... He boxed extremely well, easily coped with Calzaghes power and remained dangerous with his classy shots from start to finish, before, during and after I thought he conducted himself like a champion- he is definately the future of the Super Middle division and I completely underrated him. Congratulations denmark you have one hell of a fighter.
Agreed I had not seen much of him before tonight but I was very impressed. He often had the final word when Joe stood toe to toe with him. Calzaghe's experience and versatility won the day but he will rule the division when the Welshman retires.
I wouldn't say that he easily coped with Calzaghes power (Calzaghe hurt him a couple of times) but there's no doubt that he is an absolutely cracking fighter. Can't wait to see him clean up the division.
Calzaghe pretty much walked through Kesslers best shots. Some of the upper cuts he threw would have got rid of most fighters or at least make them think twice about attacking so much. Kessler was counter punching all night and didnt have the confidence in his own chin to attack and leave himself open to Calzaghe's counters. He admitted Calzaghe hurt him in the 8th and if the ref hadnt stepped in to tell off Calzaghe, he could of well been stopped. Credit to him he did try to open up in the latter rounds..out of desperation though.. by which time it was too late. He will do well against lesser fighters but I reckon Calzaghe will always have the beating of him.
I was also well impressed with his excellent demeaner after the fight, a true gentleman and fine example of sportsmanship! I think we should import him over here as he is half Engy anyway!
Kessler is very classy. He fought hard and made me a fan. I will glady support him in the future and am looking forward to seeing Mikkel become world champion again.
he fought really well, some shots jc took i'm like, wtf how can jc still be standing........ great sportsmanship at the end from mk and his team, lessons should be learned from this, and i just read in another thread up until this bout kessler had only ever lost 2 rounds, EVER, in his career.....if this is true that is some going. well done mikel and be seeing you soon.:good
