Why does someone have to not be truthful? As I recall both camps were quite in agreement about what occured, once you cut below the usual posturing.

To refresh you on the timeline once more:

Kessler was in talks with Miranda regarding a fight. He was then made mandatory contender for the WBA title held by Mundine and chose to discontinue the talks with Miranda in order to enforce his challenge for that title.

Miranda instead entered into discussions for a rematch with Abraham. Mundine failed in his attempt to have Kessler removed as mandatory contender and instead vacated his belt.

A fight against Kessler was then offered to Miranda for the vacant belt after Mogens Palle successfully petitioned the WBA to move Miranda high enough in their rankings to enable him to fight for the title. Miranda chose to stay with the fight against Abraham, which was had been agreed in principle, although not contractually by this point.

Kessler instead ended up fighting Sartison.

So, there's the timeline for you, again. As ever, there are legitimate arguments either way for whether Kessler would have gained more by winning the title, or from American TV exposure against Miranda.

But your 'argument' that Kessler didn't fight Miranda because he lacked the 'balls' to do so holds no water whatsoever in the face of the actual facts.

No he backed out and then he fought that Sartison who no one even knows how he got into a title fight being that he never beat a top 20 fighter nor did he even win a fringe title.

    Thanks, for the recap :good

Typical Palle BS, Kessler should definetivly have fought Miranda instead a titlefight against Sartin-who.

The only way I can see him getting the big fights is if he goes to the UK, beats down Carl Froch and becomes the WBA & WBC champ. If he does that then e will be in a very strong position. Taylor would not be able to avoid him, as he looks set to stay at 168. As for the other five he mentioned Calzaghe is not going to fight him, he has done it once, and does not want to do it again. B-Hop, I can't see him wanting to fight at 168, but with all things with B-Hop if the $$$ are there, then he will be there. Pavlik, I can't seeing wanting anything that resembles a hard fight for the next 18 months. Winky, its been so long since he actually last fought, he is starting to become a non entity, which is a shame. As for Dawson, I can't see him ever fighting below 175, and he has a rematch with Tarver, plus Calzaghe is in his sights, he does not need Kessler, the only way for this to happen is for Kessler to take hardly any money and go to 175, which i don't think will happen.

Kessler is full of ****. He said he wouldn't fight Dawson and turned down Miranda as well. this guy is a joke fighting guys over in Europe who he dwarfs in the ring and saying people don't want to fight him. This guy needs to get back his nuts that Calzaghe took from him. I've been saying this for awhile but I question his mental toughness as a fighter. Viking Warrior my ass.

Ahhhhhhh!!!! Now this all makes sense. All the time Palle was negotiating with Warriors, we know he was doing some back room negotiations with the WBA. OF COURSE Palle wanted the belt back first. It was a HUGE LOCK IN for his money boy. I hadn't put these two together before now. It never made sense that he would walk away from the Miranda fight after it had been agreed to until now. After all, it was a fight in the US against a name opponent that he had to believe he should have beaten. But the belt was JOB SECURITY for Palle.

The Miranda fight is so well documented on this site, it isn't funny. Showtime? even had the fight posted on their web site because they had a verbal agreement. THAT is why Kessler is having a hard time breaking into the states now. They know Palle negotiates in bad faith and no one wants to deal with him.

I really hope he gets a big fight soon as he is a quality fighter and person and has the potential to big big world wide, not just in Europe.

I'll agree with the second part, there are a few ?'s to me about Kessler's heart.

As I recall it was warriors who had to pay compensation to Palle cause they had been in secret talks with Abrahams people whilst shouting from the rooftops about how they were thrashing out a deal to fight Kessler.

Everyone knew Mundine was never going to give Kessler a rematch and that Kessler would be fighting someone else for a vacant belt.

And there-in lies the problem. If Kessler's team would have gone forward with the Miranda fight, Kessler would have basically "Pavlikated" Miranda. Kessler would have done it in 9 rounds instead of 7 because he is not as agressive as Pavlik. However, Kessler would have been hit less because he has better defense than Kelly. Still a very exciting fight that would have made Mikkell very marketable in the US market. Look at how things might have been: Kessler gives Slappy Joe a very good fight, and then beat 7 shades of **** out of Miranda! HBO and Showtime would be drooling over Kessler fights.

The way things stand all six of the guys he talked about simply have better options. By that I mean potential opponents who pose less risk for an equal or greater reward.

Good post. Knowledgable fans never said Kessler was afraid of Miranda. Many of us did say that it was a mistake to shut that fight down, and I think the current situation proves us correct.
