Kessler has had time to reflect on the Calzaghe fight. An unbeaten boxer's ego is a fragile thing. It's just sinking in that he's not even the best fighter in his weight division. With nobody around him to keep his confidence high and just recovering from an operation, he's just speaking his mind.

There are lots of big fights out there for him to target: Bute, Lacy, Mundine, Pavlik, Taylor, Hopkins, Dawson etc...

When Kessler thinks about it, he'll realise that there's lots still to achieve. After a few wins, he'll be back thinking about world domination again.

JC i think just dented his confidence and his advisors probably in shoch he lost, i think there is no shame in losing to JC who will for sure be a ATG. Kessler is the best in the division without JC kessler dnt retire!!!

What Kessler is saying is that he thinks he has about 5-6 fights left, because he doesn't want to have a body that hurts when he's 50 years old.
He said that doctors told him his body needed rest because he pushes it to the limit time and again.

I'm confident that he'll a lot more. When he first gets hold of them belts he'll need to lose to retire.

He did say that if was outboxed in one of the next couple of fights, he would call it a day.

A lot of fighters have said this. Oscar said he would retire before 30. Mayweather announced his retirement after the Oscar fight. Taylor said he wouldn't fight too long either. Ali, Leonard, Hopkins, the list goes on. Most (real) fighters stay on.

If he retires he makes the Calzaghe win look worse.. Calzaghe needs Kessler to more for his legacy.

Kessler's last fight was in one of the world's best stadiums in front of 50,000 fans and he got a massive payday... just to put things in perspective, how much bigger could it get for Kessler?

Hope it isn't true, he is a brilliant fighter, very, very talented, never had a chance to fighht the best, except Calzaghe, and Joe is phenomenal, so there is no shame in losing to him. I think Kessler would beat Hopkins, easily.

Other than the Calzaghe fight where he took many fast straights, he's hardly been hit.

If he has physical problems, can't he get them kept In check like Calzaghe and Floyd do?

It isn't true - it's just Kessler saying he thinks he has 5-6 fights left - Hell Calzaghe has been saying that for years - and still fights on ... Hopkins wasn't going to be fighting past 40 ... ODH was retired - Mayweather was retired and so on...

Kessler just needs to get back on the horse and go to the US - take the Hatton-road - take some tough fights away from home - build a name and get the big fights. I'm sure he'll fight on if the pay is 3-5 mill $ a fight. I agree GBP would be a good move - and they know him well from the Andrade-fight. But he is going to cost them - so he has to prove himself first - prove that he isn't damaged goods - that he isn't "Lacy" :)

Don't worry Kessler will fight on - and newspapers will print semi-lies and very angled articles...

    I'll give it a try

    ***********************

"He is still hungry for regaining his worldtitles after 12 hard rounds in Wales, where he didn't get his belt with him on the plain home. But Kessler doesn't have many chances left to regain the titles, because the menu isn't loads of fights for the 28 years old fighter.

"I'll say I have 5-6 fights left But that of course depends on how things develop. If you loose fight number two and it all goes to hell, then you might call it quits."

The danish fighter has fortolled a careerend because, but this time his words seems to have more weight.

"I have some skillfull people around meand they've tolled me that the training is so hard on my body that I have to relax a little. I can't just destroy myself, so that when I'm 40-50 years old I'll fell acks from many different places of my body, that's not worth it" says Kessler

    ********************
There you go - it's not the best translation of all time - but it will do.

That's too bad. Dude could dominate the SMW division.
