Kessler's fought shady opposition his entire career, bar Calzaghe whom he lost to.

Kessler originally struck me as being someone who wanted to be the best not the richest....i'm not so sure anymore

Weak defense but its not all his fault. Good payday and he will still have his WBA bargaining chip in tact afterwards.

I think every boxer is money over legacy these days unfortunatly, i don't think anyone would get punched in the face for a living if it didn't pay well.

it's more likely that somehow the WBA has a financial incentive in a) getting kessler the title; and b) getting this guy the title shot

Sure, but please recognize a difference between Kessler and Cotto, Pacquiao, Pavlik.

Even legacy fights have to be finacially sound and usually are. Generally legacy fights pay really well anyway and a lot of fighters dont chase them until they have made a mint or will be getting one for fighting a "legacy" fight.

Its their job, they are in it to make a living out of it.

    Exactly

Kessler chased Calzaghe, who is one of the best fighters of his generation and his first defense was all the way on the other side of the world against a very tough challenger.

Cotto on the otherhand hade his first defense against an old Randall Bailey. And if you want to talk mismatch, did you see his last fight?

Cotto, Manny and Pavlik are superstars, they have the ability to pick and choose who they fight AND have every decent fighter around chasing them for a fight. Kessler does not have these luxuries at the moment.

Arum definately has the kind of influence that can get his fighters the big fights.

Well kessler ruined his shot at superstardom by avoiding Miranda (whom he could have shined against) and making bad relations with promoters in the states, so I guess it's mandatories in Europe for the rest of his career.

Oh please. You talk as if you know these guys personally. You dont know them. You might have an impression of them. These impressions are often created by a lot of nonobjective factors. You dont know **** about them, when all comes to all.
