This is more of a question than a statement. I am just starting to have my reservations about him due to the fact that he is having another long lay off. He is no longer the beast who fought like a hungry beast who fought like a challenger each time out. I like Kessler so I hope he has something left to offer but I get the feeling he'll be back in about 10 months and have a tune up then lose to some one he'd normally beat. I hope he proves me wrong, I would not put it past him, but I just keep thinking these lay offs and injuries are going to be the end.
He is one of my favourite fighters,a true northern Euro hard *******.I dont think we will see him fight again though.Kess is no fool,he will not take another fight unless he is totally sure all is well. The signs are all is not and I hope he calls it a draw. The Froch fight was a hell of a fight to go out on.
There's a good chance we've seen the last of half of the original Super Six participants, period - let alone at the top level (and a 4th - Abraham - will probably keep boxing for a while but could go the rest of his career without wearing gold).
Newsflash... a radio interview in Montreal today, with Lucian Bute and Stephan Larouche (his trainer), revealed that Kessler was initially targeted as Bute's opponent for March 19th. The answer they got back was "unavailable until the summer". So that tune-up fight might happen in Mar/Apr, but will inevitably be against low level opposition. Could very well see Bute-Kessler at the end of the summer, with the winner facing the S6 winner in March 2012. Dirrell wants to come back too, he twitted it, but as a poster said in another thread, he could get lowballed by HBO/Showtime for his cowardness.
I'm a big, big Kessler fan. He's always seemed like a fighter who most embodied 'skill, heart and class'. But if he bailed on the Super 6 with a fake injury only to get a bigger payday with Bute, I'll be forced to root for Bute.
and how did you come to that conclusion ? any evidence to support this rumor. IMO he was one of the top 2 in the super 6 and had a good chance of winning, he doesnt seem like someone who would pull some bull**** like that.
kessler actually got an ass whooping, dirrell... well that ***** faked it and cried and then.... cried some more. *****.
Because he's said absolutely nothing about his double vision improving, yet he's allegedly already negotiating a fight with Bute. How do you do that if your vision is permanently damaged? You don't.
at the top of What? a razor thin hometown decision in a fight I personaly Think Froch won and a loss to Calzaghe pretty thin.
