If he retires without fighting Froch again, i think there will be questions about who was the best of the rest after JC and Ward.

Froch has the better resume, Kessler has the H2H victory, but the first fight was very competetive, and you get the feeling you saw the best of Kessler in that fight, but not the best of Froch

We know who the better man on the night was, marginally

We don't know who the better man overall is.

TBH I think that the rematch could be the final night for both of them, I love both guys, they are not quite that A+ level of skill, but they are both solid A and entertaining as hell, two warriors, but they owe it to each other and the fans to get it on one more time

Excellent post, Froch said he was affected by the ash clouds and the fact he wasn't able to travel comfortably. I don't Kessler looked very sharp in that fight either, his right hands were looping and he used to throw really good technical straight shots. Regardless, it was a great fight, hands down best fight of the Super Six.

I'd love to see the rematch, looks like Kessler is trying to cash out. I think Froch takes him at this point. Froch was awesome against Bute, I still think he should stay away from a Ward rematch though.

first fight was fantastic and very close but i thought kessler edged it.i imagine the rematch would be another 12 round war this time froch edging the decision being the home fighter, almost an exact repeat of the first encounter but with the scorecards reversed.

Would Froch beating a faded Kessler prove who the better man overall is?

No but it would even out the H2H and Froch has a better track of "names" on his record.

The first half of the Calzaghe fight was a better Kessler than the froch fight by miles, Joe had to really adapt and change tactics or he would have lost, Kessler was bossing him.

In Froch fans minds, yes. They talk as if Froch won the first fight or was robbed. Laughable

He's probably forgotten who Carl Froch is.

Given that a fading Kessler edged Froch out it would probably just be a measure of Kesslers ongoing decline.
