Hours after the defeat to Joe Calzaghe Mikkel Kessler spoke to danish paper BT.

Of the fight he said: "I felt I entered a lion cage. I heard 50.000 voices, 90% of them being hostile. But there were also people waving red/white flags. I couldn't hear what the crowd said, but I know it wasn't: hey Mr. Kessler nice to see you good luck."

Kessler was missing Mogens Palle at ringside though:

"I won't make excuses other then the fact that I wasn't 100 % today. And it certainly didn't help that Mogens Palle was taken to hospital, seriously ill - and still is omitted.
I hope he'll get back on his feet soon. He celebrates his 50 years anniversary as a promoted this wedensday and I hope I can visit him on this special occasion."

"But no crying, Joe beat me fair and square in his backyard. He knows more tricks than any magician. I knew he would be difficult, but I thought I hit harder and more often than some of his former opponents."

Kessler said after the fight he would like a rematch with Joe Calzaghe, but according to Kessler Joe Calzaghe declined:
"I don't think we should have a rematch, because you'll just be better and I might not do so well. I don't like rematches" Kessler said Calzaghe had told him.

Kessler hopes Calzaghe changes his mind:

"My two belts are allready gone, and I miss them. But I'm 28 and still young. I believe I have the best fights and nights ahead of me" Said Kessler who points to these as potential next fights:

"IBF champ Lucien Bute, winner of Pavlik - Taylor II or Anthony Mundine. I've got lots of options. And I know tonight won't ruin my chances in USA or England."

Kessler wished to thank his many fans, sponsors and Bettina Palle.

Mikkel Kessler says the following to fans and people that follow him:

"I'll be back. And I'll be back stronger, sharper and tougher than ever. I know I've just entered the best years of my career. Creds to Joe. But the world has yet to see the best of The Viking Warrior - Mikkel Kessler."

He'll be Champion again. He's too good for the rest of the division not to be.

Yeah, his performance didn't limit his options. Now he needs to get the loss out of his body and build his confidence again.

A rematch in Copenhagen could be interesting, but it's not going to happen. Cal will fight B-hop next. Mikkel should fight Taylor or Pavlik, and a win will bring him right back, where he was before this fight.

When Calzaghe eventually leaves the Super Middleweight division or retire, Kessler will take over the division count on it :good

What a credit to the sport Mikkel Kessler is. I hope he comes back and rules the super middleweight division for many years to come. Who should he fight next?

Calzaghe was a nightmare for him. I fancy him picking on Pavlik - Taylor winner.
But he'll most likely end up fighting some tune up, perhaps Yusuf Mack, and then have a shot at the IBF title and Lucien Bute.
Something could boile up should HBO decide to take Kessler under their wings and match him with someone big.. Like Pavlik..

Yea...he'll be back. Hopkins loss at 28 against some guy named Roy Jones and took the long road back. Kessler has a lot of options and his stock has risen even though he loss.

If his hand really WAS injured, then he should keep it a secret in the future too.
