Well, a local tv-station filmed the sparring and after the sparring they interviewed Kessler. And Kessler didn't know who he had sparred and when they said that the guy he just sparred was in the world rankings Kessler thought they were joking. The clips from the sparring all look like Kessler was easily handling Andrade. In fact, I guess many fighters would look like they are handling Andrade in sparring because Andrade's strenghts are not being flashy but in long rough fights - so he will probably never look like a world-beater in sparring. Anyway - Andrade would be all wrong for this fight. Mundine could be a good sparring, but I think Mundine has far too much ego to spar with anyone. Kessler could easily get an injury if he sparred with Mundine, because Mundine would be mouthing off and making the whole thing focused on him rather than Kessler's upcoming fight.
There is plenty of talent in CA and most up and coming fighters would love to spar with a champion like Mikkel Kessler. There are very few people who's 'loyality' to Ward would hold them back. If anything an insider sparring with Kessler would only help the Ward camp. I dont see anything about your post that makes sense.
I wouldn't have been surprised if sparring brought Andrade and Kessler's levels closer together. Every time I see Kessler in sparring he carries his opponent and is blatantly just working out. On camera anyway. Andrade could be the type to put his heart into it all, particularly against a name like Kessler. Your comments are interesting however, I've not seen those clips or interview.
Mundine wont go anywhere near Kessler again, sparring or fight! and Mundines ego certainly wouldn`t allow him to "reduce" to sparring partner either But yep, he could have been excellent sparring for the Ward fight!
That's because you don't know what I know. I live in the area genius. I'm MUCH more familiar with the boxers around here than you are, apparently. Hell, I'll even name a few names. I know exactly which camp took him in. Some of the obvious names he'll likely be sparring with are Eric Regan, Otis Griffin and Chris Cruz. There are better in the area, but I'm not naming those names. And YES, genius, Kessler has already been told by some of Wards' LOYAL sparring partners to look elsewhere. Now, about not seeing anything in this post that makes sense.....LOOK AGAIN.
This completely confirms what I said earlier in the thread. Griffin is a decent fighter but is several talent classes below Ward. Even worse for Kessler, Griffin is the best. Like I said before a couple of people started whining for who knows what....Griffin is the incorrect sparring partner, by far, to prepare for Ward. There is one other guy in the area, most likely loyal to Ward, who would prepare Kessler MUCH better. Other than that, Sacramento was the wrong city to land in for Kessler.
Isn't there a saying that goes something like "...the higher you fly the deeper you fall...."? Mr. Fanning, you have been flying pretty high on Ward. Let's see come 21st nov.!
who the hell does ward have to simulate kessler is the real question? do you really need a sparring partner anymore when you have done 12 rounds with calzaghe? he should get the quickstepper himself back to the states to help out his supposed successor.
Otis Griffin posts on another forum I frequent. So we should be able to get some insight on how things are going in Kessler's camp. He recently sparred with Chad Dawson and posted briefly about his experience in that camp.
