Since Kessler last fought Froch 3 years ago he's only fought 13 rounds in that time, Bouadla 6 rounds, Green 4 rounds and Magee 3 rounds. Arguably the standard of opposition hasn't been great either. Do you think this will count for or against him?
Yep this is why I think Carl is the big favourite. Kessler hasn't beat anyone of note for a while and looked average at best vs Green. As fight gets closer, I can see carl stopping him.
Yes, this is a major issue. Plus even in those rounds he's had a few little moments and a creaky look to him that suggests he's not quite firing on all cylinders like Carl is.
How come he has only fought 13 rounds..? Is it because he has been sparking guys out..? Inactivity and ring rust is a myth, like David Haye says. The only fighters who get ring rust, are the fat lazy fighters who disappear from physical exercise after their fights for months. They not only disappear but they live like a teenage student nutrition wise.
Aye PK, but Kessler's had extended periods of rehabilitation over recent years. It's not as if he's been constantly ticking over, there has been periods of genuine inactivity. I think that is why in all his fights he's been battling to find timing early on and missing a lot of punches. Can't afford that on Saturday.
A athlete like Kessler does not have inactivity, he will have active recovery. Trust me, if he is as big AS they say he is in Denmark. At no stage in these past few years would he have been in bad condition, fair enough he would of adapted his training due to his eye injury but..? that's about it. Mentally! I think he needed fights to regain mental stability. When you are injured, sometimes you no longer trust your body. The question is..? Does he have full confidence in his body..? Even when injuries are healed, they can still be in the back of your mind and mind set.
