He didnt' because Palle never got the papers signed. Point is, there is enough out there to make the case that we know what happened during the first round of negotiations. Palle decided to try something else. There is nothing out there other than what Palle and Marley says about the supposed second round. I think at most they made an offer that was too late. No evidence that there were ANY negotiations.
My head hurts At the end of the day, Miranda got his ass whooped and shown up as the C rate brawler we all said he was, Kessler got a belt, Abraham-Pavlik is somewhere on the horizon as a result of the **** up, and Kessler has a shortlist of potential big name fights for HBO Everyone is happy, except Miranda :yep
Not my point. I just disliked Kessler claiming ignorance. He leaves it open like he doesn't know why Miranda didn't take the counter offer. That is clearly a matter of record at this point. It was made too late. Maybe Joe addeled his brains a little more than we though.
My point was, its really worth forgetting about now. What we lost in boosting Kessler's profile we gained with Abraham, and we'll actually get a more relevant fight in P-AA as a result Plus we got to see Miranda dominated :happy
Why on earth do we even discuss this issue? I mean, Kessler would KTFO Miranda and it could be shown on showtime or HBO, doesnt matter. But he let that chance go and picked up the WBA belt instead. Ok reasoning after all.
Joe Calzaghe fan? Kessler got his belt which is good....now lets see him actual commit to those big money fights. I don't think he fears anyone, I just think he's got a screwed up promoter.
I am discussing this because I am extreamly dissappointed in Kessler's answer. I feel it is not truthful. I wish Jan(DK) were back...sigh....
If Kessler did have a bad hand problem it could have made a huge difference by affecting Kessler's power. It also plays on your mind and makes you doubt yourself, something not needed in a big fight.
That's right. You have to climb aboard when the train is there because when its gone......it's gone! Even if he got a second chance is there any reason to believe the outcome would be any different?
The reason why it wasn't signed in the first place, was that Kessler though he had a deal with Mundine.. He was the number 1. challenger for the WBA title.. Then when Mundune didn't want to fight Kessler he tried to make it happen with Miranda, who then didn't want Kessler, so Kessler opted for the vacant WBA title against Sartison. This is the reason why Kessler didn't fight Pantera in the first place. To say Kessler is afraid of Pantera is utter rubbish, to be honest. He didn't avoid Miranda (team palle that is), he opted for something else.. He thought he had a deal with Mundine, but when it fell through, he took Sartison - since Miranda had already signed a deal to fight King Abraham, which is fair enough. Kessler's wish list for his next fight is: 1. Calzaghe rematch 2. Pavlik 3. R. Jones
Kessler has never complained about hand injury when he lost to Calzaghe.. All he said was his hand was not 100 %. And please notice, that he has not bitched about it, only when papers asked about it, he told what had happened. He didn't use it as an excuse - he said, he would probably have lost anyway.. Kessler is a gentleman, and represent all great thinks of this amazing sport.
