Kessler clearly had skills and was a good fighter but Joe showed the world he was on a whole other level.

Why do you guys think that Tito had ANY, I mean ANY problems fighting as a MW?

    It's the Joppy fight?

Tito lost the first 5 rounds against DLH in a WW fight and DLH started to fade he couldn't win just 2 in the remaining 7 so he lost (controversial decision). Bernard Hopkins on the other hand defeated Tito easily as he had the stamina. In the Wright fight the MW limit favoured the bigger Tito. Tito didn't have much problems in stamina in the Roy Jones fight at LHW after 2 years of lay-off. Wasn't really slow.

This "MW was too much for Tito" is the most untrue urban legend in boxing. He was a MONSTER at MW, he showed that against Joppy and he didn't lost his fights against bigger men but against better, skilled men with a great counter-aggressive style.

Weight has nothing to do with that. Kessler is not better at 168 than Tito was at 160, just read the predictions before the Tito-Hopkins fight. The opinion of the experts.

I agree with the rest: Kessler to Calzaghe at 168 was a bigger threat than DLH or Johnson at 160 to Hopkins. But DLH was a bigger name with better wins than Mikkel.

Seems to me that Kessler presented very much the similar sort of challenge to Joe that Taylor presented to Bernard. The difference must be in the way they took those challenges from bulkier, younger undefeated men - Bernard took Jermain lightly and Joe was perfectly aware of the danger... B'sides that, there is no way I could rate Calzaghe's opposition at SMW above Hopkins' at MW. Even in the conditions that they achieved those wins - Calzaghe won the WBO title in Cardiff, Wales against veteran Chris Eubank, fought Lacy and Kessler in GB whereas Hopkins had to go to the Lions' den to face Mercado in Equador, Trinidad in MSG and Hoya in LV. I think this is a perfect way to end their careers by beating the other but it would be absurd to look back at their whole careers at the light of this upcoming fight.

Eubank was a natural super midd when he fought joe. So what is your point?

You clearly have no idea about what the term boxing means do you? Or are you just a hater?

Tito had ONE win against a decent (not great) MWt coming in against Bernard. I didn't give him much chance against Bernard (experts?, the same guys who picked Lacy over Calzaghe?) and was not surprised when he got KO'd by the considerably bigger BHop.

Post-Bernard, he had some guy I've forgotten and a souped up Welter (Mayorga) on his resume. Plus a loss to Winky.

Tito was a great Welterwt and did ok at 154. But he was not anywhere near as good at 160as Kessler is at 168.

As for Oscar, who once held the 130 title, what had he done at 160 before (or after ) Bernard?

Sturm. That's it. And some think he got a gift.

Another great welterwt, but his standing at 160 does not even approach Kessler's at 168( 39-0-0, 29 KOs, WBA and WBC champ).

Bernard has no opponents of Kessler's quality, save for Jones.

His best win was Johnson and I would rate Calzaghe's Kessler win as better.

    I agree.

It also redraws the "best in his generation" argument in favour of Hopkins.

Nah, young Joe fought famous chris, in England.

Flawed argument. Hopkins BEAT the average Mercado in Marlyland, USA, he drew in Ecuador.Calzaghe has travelled from the UK more times than Hopkins has the left the States. I would hardly call Vegas the lions den, a town full of millionaire tourists, and id MSG is in America if i am not mistaken, Hopkins is from America.

The only reason Hopkins had to travel to Ecuador was because nobody cared about him at home, thats the reaon why Winky had to come to the UK, and Johnny Nelson had to travel round Europe.
