This fight reminded me somewhat of Adamek Dawson fight. Adamek throught his career proved to be a warrior with a high punch output but against Dawson he was different, tentative, couldnt let his hands go, same thing happened to Kessler and same with Antonio Margarito against Paul Williams. The reason is handspeed of Dawson, WIlliams, Calzaghe. Its hard to be first to throw a punch when your opponent is faster and punches hard.
Well you can only say this about Kessler if you have been saying this before hand. I been said he is overrated and one dimensional which he is. I tauted that he only has a 1,2 and ba deep ba deep thats all folks. His left hook is the ugliest looking punch I have ever seen thrown. His defense is sub par and his head movement..well he barely moves it. His ribs are exposed all the time the way he holds his guard. He is just a stiff ass fighter that is good at his one dimension. He still beats a lot of guys b/c he is a smart fighter with great timing with his str8 right hand. He is not this world beater.
the best punch he landed on Calzaghe was an uppercut. the only think you can say about Kessler if you were saying he was overrated and one dimensional beforehand is that you were wrong.
Kessler is a very good fighter, certainly one to be taken very seriously by any opponent. Calzaghe is just phenomenal though. He did so much to impress me against Kessler. Before that fight, I respected him, but wasn't a fan. I'm a fan now. That being said, I wouldn't be so quick to call Kelly Pavlik a "B-level fighter." Pavlik does some incredible work inside the ropes. Remember, he was only hurt because he was doing some foolish clowning, a mistake he will not make again. If he were to fight Calzaghe, I'm really not sure who I would pick. Calzaghe would certainly land pleny of punches as he always does, but I doubt they would hurt Pavlik. I could certainly see Pavlik landing one off his crushing rights on south-paw Joe during an exchange. Those rights could hurt or KO Calzaghe. Joe is elusive though and those punches may never come. In this case, Joe wins a clear decision through better boxing. Calzaghe admited after Kessler, though, that he tends to get into exchanges when he doesn't have to and has consistantly fought with great heart throughout his career. This could be his downfall against Pavlik. Bottom line, if you exchange too much with Kelly, you will get hit. I say there is 60% chance of Pavlik getting the KO and a 40% chance of Joe winning on points.
no JOE is just that good i feel kessler would smash 7 shades of **** out of taylor and can beat PAVLIK i just wouldn't bet on it though
Kessler is a big, strong SMW and one dimensional. Pavlik, we'll find out soon enough, he just keeps knocking cats out.
Kessler was 39-0 29kos with the wba & wbc straps going into the fight. Now thats an extremely overrated fighter. Calzaghe just can't get credit by some.
your a ****ing ******.. what does my avatar have to do with the thread? Yes, I like Mancini but is he an ATG? Did he ever live up to the kind of hype Kessler was getting? NO. He's just an exciting fighter. I never went around proclaiming him to be the second coming of Christ. I never said I didnt like Kessler, he is a likeable guy, he has a good future in a WEAK division when Calzaghe leaves all i was saying was that he isn't as great as everyone made him out to be. If you disagree with that then you obviously are in denial
another kessler nuthugger, how sad. you just cant cope with the fact that he lost http://www.amazon.com/Coping-Grieving-Loss-Sandra-Giddens/dp/0823937585/ref=sr_1_4/103-7264985-7040641?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1194405096&sr=1-4
