I was VERY impressed with kessler as a boxer. He has a massive future.
But I was even more impressed with him as a real man. Absolutely no excuses at the end of the fight from him,he still managed to smile throughout his interview despite being bitterly disappointed. I'm sure he gained many more fans than he had before, including me, and even though he lost this was one of those rare fights when both fighters stock is raised after the fight

He sure is a classy guy...

He'll learn from this and come back strong. I believe he's the future at 168.

Seemed very genuine ain every interview..honest, no bull****, decent fight with a good future. Pity is, no matter what he does, people will alway say 'Calzaghe at 35 beat him in his prime', which is fact but doesnt mean he cant go on to be a great champion in the next 3-4 years..

PS-He has perfect English, most Danes do, itts impressive

Kessler would have far too much for Hopkins. I reckon he'd stop him, but I honestly can't see Hopkins taking the fight anyway.

I think Kessler will beat a 2008 version of Hopkins with a decent margine.

As for the long term "effect" of this defeat - well to loose to the best is no shame - It's not like Mundine - no mater what he does people will say - isn't he the guy that got knocked out by Ottke??? - Kessler will be the man who lost to the "old" champion in a fairly close fight - the old warrior showing the young lion how it's done ... don't worry we'll have the first people saying that Kessler will win a rematch soon ... after all the fight was close and there is no doubt who learned the most from that fight ;)

I would pick Kessler over Hopkins now via a UD. Prime for prime, I'd go with Hopkins.

None the less - the judge did so rightfully - that was one hell of a swing Calzaghe made at Kessler's neck!

I would like to see him vs Froch who called out the winner of Calzaghe-Kessler but i don't think Calzaghe is interested. Kessler would school Froch IMO.

Kessler is a good man, and with a couple of solid wins against guys like Bute and Pavlik, Im sure he can bounce back and give joe a harder fight next time. My respect for these two has gone through the roof after this fight. Congrats to Joe hes P4P #1 in my opinion. I didnt expect his chin, toughness and punching power. And his stamina blew me away.

I am not that impressed with those people who suddenly realise how good Kessler is and that they like him a lot, when before they were either a bit unimpressed or doubtful, or thinking Joe would walk over him. If you didn't realise how good Kessler would be and that he would have gotten better for this fight, I don't think you take your job as analysts seriously enough...
