Not putting any words into your mouth.

I'd just like to know why, if Shaw is happy for the fight to take place at (lets say) 170lbs or 172lbs, he has specifically stated "at 175lbs" every single time he has mentioned a possible match up.

Maybe you're right and Shaw just likes adding unnecessary extra words that he doesn't really mean into his sentences. But I think it's a lot more likely that he knows and means exactly what he is saying.

actually i would say palle has WAY too much influence on kessler.

thats the problem here as well as kessler is his cash cow and he's taken a big backward step since calzaghe.

Sad statement and no reason for it to be so in today's world.

    thats childish.

moreso for this to happen in today's world because calzaghe only got his big fights (against faded greats) by beating kessler.

and the reason for that was they were the best in the division and both euro 'castaways'.

dont open a post with "sad statement" just because you're backing kessler. thats lame.

you have to be bigger than that if you want credibility

I think Kessler's fight with Calzaghe, bad hand and all, does put him as a clear number 1. I personally think JT has the skills to out point him, but doesn't have the resume at 168 yet to be ranked too high.

It's the same way with money. One party says "20 grand". The other says "30 grand". Eventually, they work their way to 25 grand. That's called negotiation.

If, however, one side says "there will be no fight because the other side will probably want too much", that is not negotiating, but rather pulling the plug on the fight.

So, just because Shaw said we'll fight at 175 does not mean he's not open to fighting at a catchweight, as you said. :nono

Since Kessler's people have said "there will be no fight because Dawson is too big", they show no desire whatsoever to make this fight happen, and are therefore open to criticism.

Instead, they are blindly defended by misguided fans.

I think that if you call some one out, you should be willing to go to the weight they normally fight at. If they agree to a catch weight fine, but I wouldn't call it a 'duck'.

    To each their own. :good

If you read my posts carefully, I did not call it a duck yet, rather a potential duck (fight may yet happen, who knows).

I think he did well enough in the Calzaghe fight to warrant a place at the top.

WTF???? With todays communications there is really no reason that any fighter should be 'unknown' because of where he fights. HBO could sell a Kessler fight without too much trouble if they wanted to. Advertising is what they do. Might not be the money they want, but hell, it doesn't have to be prime time either. Just rebroadcasts of fights after the fact. At this point I rank Kessler as #1 because he has earned it IN THIS DIVISION. I still think Taylor could out point him but hasn't had enough fights to be ranked that high at SMW.

Kessler said he would be happy to fight Dawson at a catchweight, as you so love your 'he said, they said'...
