He has no source other than Kessler's promoter downplaying in a conversation with HBO about hypothetical future opponents the possibility of a Dawson Kessler match at LHW. Kessler himself said he would be happy to fight Dawson at 168 or a catchweight, but Dawson's promoter has ruled out a match other than at 175. I wonder if Pirlo thinks that constitutes Dawson 'refusing to fight' Kessler? It would seem he would have to if he is to avoid complete hypocracy...
Isnt this the same guy that was offered miranda but turned it down? If im not mistaken, Dawson also offered him a fight and he turned it down.
Kesslers promotor, Mogens Palle, reports today that Kessler and him, has turned down an offer from HBO, A matchup between Dawson and kessler. Quoting Palle: We´re not interested in him. He´s a boxer close to cruiserweigth. After weighing in, he always gains 5-6 kilos before the figth.... Mikkel gains about 1 kilo !... More over, Dawson is not a big name. Mikkel has fougth for a lot of money before, and tha cash in this game just isn´t big enough... Reporter: Is it because you think that Cad would beat kessler ? Palle: I dont know, but its to big a risk, for to little money, Mikekl doesn´t disserve that... These are direct quotes. I dont have to provide proof for the miranda snub, because its well documented how the fight was signed with showtime and he wimped out at the last minute.
I think it's funny that someone with a Jermain Taylor avatar would talk about one fighter refusing to fight another after Taylor refused to fight both Eastman and Froch. :deal
The only thing that is documented about the Miranda fight is that Kessler pulled out of it in order to secure a title shot against a higher rated opponent. When Mundine vacated, the title shot was offered to Miranda, Mogens Palle even arranging for Miranda to be moved up in the WBA rankings to facilitate it. That doesn't match any definition of wimping out. I believe you are mistaken, because I dont think Dawson has offered Kessler anything. I'm not sure he has mentioned him. Maybe you have some quotes from where he has? Kessler, on the other hand, has said he would be happy to fight Dawson either at 168 or a catchweight. HBO seem interested in making the fight, however Mogens Palle has said he doesn't want it at 175 and Gary Shaw has said that he doesn't want it at lower than 175. How you get from that that Dawson offered a fight and Kessler turned it down is a mystery.
Things seemed to be getting better for a while... but now it's looking like we're getting back to the same old ducking and dodging bull**** that always keeps boxing down.
Problem with Taylor, which would be a great opponent for Kessler, is Taylor is one of Di Bella's top fighters. Di Bella (reportedly) worked hard for the whole Miranda deal and I would guess that's going to be a bump in the road in making Kessler vs. Taylor.
Dawson changed his tune about fighting below 175 after Kessler wanted to fight him. After the Johnson fight Dawson said he would fight at 168 if the bigger fight was there then after he beat Tarver they said he would not go below that weight and now he grants Tarver the rematch which he didn't have to do right away. He wants no part off Kessler. A real champion would have rematched Johnson immediately. I lost respect for Dawson at this point. He seems protected now maybe because of his shaky chin.
