Chad could go on to have a career that puts Calzaghe's in the shade, he's a great talent, im not going to slag him, but if you rank him over Calzaghe at this point, im sorry but thats daft. Ortiz or Bradley could go on to have a career that eclipses Hatton, but im not going to sit here and say they are greater than he is today.

Obviously a crowd cant fight for you, but home advantage, in any sport, is an advantage. And in Boxing, if you chose to go that backyard especially, you deserve some praise. Thats applicable to any fighter. Win or Lose. If Dawson fought Calzaghe in Wales, my praise for him taking that fight wouldnt rest on whether he won or not.

Im afraid thats exactly what i was saying. I responded to a poster that said this..

'MK lacks the intestinal fortitude to take big risk. I challenge him to be great. Go out and fight a tough guy like Dawson.'

I responded by saying Kessler has taken risks, and a bigger one than fighting Chad in the States. I still cant see how this is debateable.

Kessler was the undefeated WBC/WBA champ going infront of 65,000 Brits, for only the WBO strap, against a P4P top 5 established undefeated star.

Thats a far bigger risk than fighting Dawson today. When talking about risks, people arent soley talking about being hurt, or even just losing. It's what effect it can have after.

While Dawson is widely unknown, he is highly thought of on here, and in the wider Boxing world, MK going up to a new division to take on the young star, while an obvious risk, with not much wide reward, is still less risky than fighting Calzaghe in Wales.

In fact it's less risky than fighting Froch, a complete unknown, who isnt highly thought of on here, or the wider Boxing world. A defeat to Froch would affectively end any hopes of getting Taylor or Hopkins/Calzaghe in the ring, which we know is what MK wants. A defeat to Dawson doesnt shut the door at 168, and he would remain marketable both in the States and Europe, especially if he put up a good display, which he would.

That doesnt mean i rate Froch over Chad, or think Chad is rubbish or one has the better chance of Beating MK than the other. Because i dont. Chad would have the much bigger chance of beating Kessler. It just means Chad's risk/reward for Kessler isnt that bad. Which is why they left the door open for a catchweight.

This is why i dont see Dawson as the biggest risk MK would have ever taken. Because he isnt.

Wouldn't you like a head to toe side view picture of some of the guys that always post "so and so could drop down a weight class if he really wanted to". Want to bet you could "roll" most of them to the side because they can't louse a frigging OUNCE when their lives depend on it?

It was a joke. See my quoted passage about the hypothetical re: Dawson.

Yes, I knew that. Geez..... I was just using that as a hook to dig at the keyboard warriors. I'd really like to see if some of the guys that seem to think certain fighters could simply drop another 5 to 10 pounds are incapable of getting themselves down to 'healthy', let alone 'starvation' like Oscar did in his last fight.

Not to go too far a field here, but I think Roach won that fight in negotiations. Oscar was so concerned about being over weight, and the financial consequences of that, he went too far in his weight loss. Nicely done Freddy....:deal
