So we're arguing technicalities? Fight presented to Kessler. Fight turned down by Team Kessler. What's there to argue? If you're arguing a "call out" then you're arguing finicky details when the fight was presented to both sides and the one side that turned it down was Palle. So again...poor management.
What options does Abraham have now? :? Pavlik is the only big American name at the weight and he shows no signs of wanting to fight Abraham.
Well, personally, before he demolished Miranda, I was never an AA fan. Im still not a fan, but I want to see him in there with the big names now after the KO win over Miranda. He has something that Kessler seems to lack, cahones. He had his jaw broken by Miranda yet he not only left his country to come here to make the fight, but he agreed to go up in weight to do it, and won in spectacular fashion. Compare that to Kessler winning a paper title against some cab driver, and you tell me who made the better career move.
That's the point though. You're completely ignoring reality. You could just as easily (actually even easier as I have an actual quote from the fighter himself) argue it this way: http://www.saddoboxing.com/boxingforum/46786-open-letter-mikkel-kessler.html Gary Shaw says that Dawson would only take the fight at 175lbs. Fight presented to Dawson. Fight turned down by Team Dawson. It's completely one eyed to argue that the fight was 'turned down by one side'. In reality, both sides are attaching their own conditions. If anything, when you compare the two fighters records of taking fights outside their comfort zone, Kessler deserves a lot more benefit of the doubt than Dawson does. The guy that went to Sydney to fight Mundine and chased Calzaghe to the extent of fighting in Calzaghe's hometown in front of 65000, or the guy that turned down a career high payday and dumped his title rather than have to apply for a passport and instead fought an old man for less money (twice, apparantly!).
Abraham went abroad to fight a guy he had already beaten and has been beaten every time he has stepped above journeyman class, in a fight where he didn't even have to risk his title. Kessler challenged a top three P4P champion, putting his own titles on the line, in the champions hometown, in front of 65000 hometown fans. It takes a special brand of one-eyed ******ness to see that and conclude that Kessler lacks cojones.
After knocking out Miranda, Abraham is now popular with American fans. He could probably fight any big name at 168 because the fans support will be there.
Risk, its all about risk. What did Kessler lose in getting outclassed by an undefeated 10 year reign champ? He lost his undefeated record and gained alot of money. No problem, he can easily bounce back from that. What would he lose if he got ko'd by, as you explained, a guy that cant compete past the journeyman class? He would lose all credibility as an elite fighter. Like I said, he lacked the balls to take the fight. He instead, took the much easier route with the cab driver and now look where he's at? His best wins are to c level fighters and he has been beaten badly by an elite. Now he's crying that he cant get a big fight. Weak
Are you really arguing now that fighting bums takes more balls than fighting P4P fighters because you've got more to lose?! Do you even read this stuff before you press post atsch I'm not sure who you're labelling a cab driver, but I'd favour any of Kessler's recent opposition at SMW over Miranda, who is completely unproven at the weight and never really beat anyone of much note at MW.
'Probably'? The big names and big money at both MW and SMW are largely located outside the USA. Abraham's motive in fighting Miranda in the US was to try to set up a fight with Pavlik, and it seems it may have been counterproductive in that.
