How is stepping up to 175 to fight the undefeated IBF champion a low reward fight???

Oh and by the way I think the reward for beating Taylor is ALOT lower then the reward if he stepped up and beat Dawson.

Mikkel is 6'1 and never fought a high- profile fight in the US.
If he's got an option to fight Taylor or Hopkins, as a manager it would make much more sense to fight for the 168lbs ring belt than to go up and face the possibility of getting beat up in a fight where he won't get paid as much as even the Sartison fight.

Below is my definition of ducking..............

    1. When someone is your mandatory challenger.

    2. When you are mandatory to someone else.

    3. When you have rejected a reasonable offer, and there are no other offers on the table.

Ducking and hiding behind a belt are two different things, albeit subtly.

    Thread closed.

I actually think Kessler beats Dawson, but your post makes great sense.

I think everyone but Calzaghe and Kessler fans would agree that Kessler would get alot more credit for beating Dawson then Taylor........ ALOT!!!!!!!!

And if you disagree then please share your opinion of why Taylor is a bigger reward fight.

That's what Kessler did vs Miranda.

He wanted that paper WBA title and Mundine made it clear that he would not fight Kessler. So instead of Kessler fighting Miranda on US TV(which he wants so badly) he makes the WBA enforce his title shot and so Mundine vacated(which Kessler and his team knew was gonna happen) and Kessler fought a complete unknown fighter for a vacant paper title.

The Miranda fight would have got him US exposure and a decent name on his resume. Instead he's wasted a year fighting Sartian and Haussler.

There were other offers for him to take, rather than Miranda.

He had been owned by Pavlik and Abraham - what would it prove?

The WBA title would give him more leverage than a win over Miranda - especially in Europe.
