The way Calzaghe boxed in this fight is how "boxers" should work. He didnt slug with Kessler, but he wasnt timid of defensive either. He just used his skills to beat on Kessler without being reckless or boring.

His effort was great and he didnt run or slack off at all. True legend.

warren did everything to get out of that fight.
but kohl even stopped calzaghe making a defense against brian mageee 1 day before the fight was due to take place to make sure calzaghe fought veit instead 3 months later.

both calzaghe v veit fights were mandatory defenses .

But then again, aren't you the kid that thinks Floyd is the greatest boxer ever and that Ali was not a top 10 heavywt?

    Calzaghe #1 168-175

    Kessler #2 168 -175

calzaghe got paid $1.5 plus for the veit fight but it was a mandatory and the fight went to purse bids , hence we know exactly what calzaghe got.

    no i am right.

warren did not want the second veit fight and kohl and warren could not agree so the fight being a mandatory went to purse bids.

kohl won the purse bid and so calzaghe had to go to germany to fight veit again.

the first veit fight was also a mandatory which warren won the bid and the fight took place in the uk.

The guy is a top class competitor . . . I hope he comes back strong. I don't want to see him become another wasted talent.

For some shitty reason ? My god you are biased. He was hitting him in the back of his head. He did this all night. Fighting dirty. That was not the only reason Cal won. But it was one of the reasons. go watch the fight again. The hitting Kessler in the back of his head starts allready after 25 seconds in the first round.
In the 8th round when Cal had Kess hurt it was about time that the referee told Cal to Stop hitting Kess in the back of his head.

    I agree
People should really try to watch this fight with the sound off. Every time Joe threw some of his 1000 punches (whereof 287 landed) the crowd was going crazy. And the judges were affected by this a bit I think.
When Kessler threw his big uppercuts in the forth there was dead silence.
Calzaghe won but with maximum maximum 4 points.

And you can easily score the fight closer.

You cannot score the fight a draw. Its impossible. And of course you cant score it MIkkel winning. Impossible.

Calzaghe won by 1 to 4 points. Depending on how much volume you allow when you watch the fight.

Go watch the fight with the volume turned down.

Calzaghe won the fight comfortably. Kessler gave him problems, but no way in hell did he deserve to win or even get a draw. If they had of fought the exact same fight in Denmakr, the result would of been the same.

Kessler came up against a better fighter. Period.
