After previous denials, former world champion Mikkel Kessler has now come clean on a prefight hand injury that allegedly disrupted his training.

I said earlier it depends on if he wins or loses if he said his hand was hurt or not.And of course he lost so now he says his hand was hurt. Some lot of fighters do this.

it seems like a loaded excuse , like if he won his hand was ok and if he lost it was because of his hand being hurt , i thought both guys were pretty classy after the fight but maybe kessler feels that his hand injury will be a good excuse as to why he lost to joe

Well - he said his hand was hurt prior to the fight - but he also said that his hand was fine during the fight and that he didn't lose because of that injury ... so not much of an exuse, if he doesn't use it as one...

i hope hes not gonna insinuate that his hand played any part in his defeat because he showed real class after the fight.

Lets be clear here, its being said that the injury "disrupted his training"... not that the hand itself bothered him in the fight. Also, I'll bet his managment team broke this news, not Kessler himself.

Yeah... Kessler specifically said he did not loose because of the injury, but because Calzaghe simply was the better man in that fight.

It's very important that we all realise this. Mikkel is not making any excuses here...he would never do that - he is better than that!

Kessler "No hand injury affected my abilities to punch air in the fight with Joe Calzaghe"

Oh, come on! No one truly believes that Mikkel could have beaten THAT Joe, even if all the preparation had gone 100% and if his hands had been stronger than ever...do they? It was close, and it could have been closer if Mikkel had been 100%, but he would not have beaten Joe...

(I am not sure who started these rumours but I am sure Mikkel is not looking for an excuse...)

Well, if it's true it's true, I mean the reports came out before the fight. Doesn't matter cause Joe is still the better fighter.
