As much as I would like to argue a rematch with you, there is really no point. Why is there no point? Because he is Calzaghe! Okay, fair enough, truth to be told, JC did say he would go to Copenhagen and fight in the first place but did you really believe him when he said that? I know I didn't.

As for the margin, quite a number of people saw it differently from JC fans. I recommend you go watch the fight one more time in case you didn't. I think that might change your opinion slightly? Also there are plenty of threads here discussing the issue.

Yep he was clearly beaten - didn't even try to win the fight - even in the last round he just stod there with no confidense eating Calzaghe's jab - did Kessler even throw +100 punches that night???

I think your post is spot on. From what I´ve been able to find in the news Kessler was afraid of loosing the big pay day, which is more or less securing him a good and economically safe life for many years to come.

So what? Obviously he didn't throw the hand as if it was hurting. He was putting full power on all of his shots, and wasn't holding anything back. Calzaghe has hand injuries non-stop. It is part of fighting.

A rematch doesn't make sence - Calzaghe knows it, Kessler knows it - hell even Palle knows it. Not that the fight wasn't close enough - it's just that it wasn't close enough to warrant a rematch right now - and Calzaghe is going to be too old, when Kessler has made a rematch relevant again. Had Calzaghe been 32, then a rematch would proberbly be relevant in two years, when Kessler is reestablised as the top contender.

Mate, you are a Kessler fan. You know how good Kessler is. Do you suspect Calzaghe is just about the best boxer in the history of the entire sport?

I don't know how well you know Kessler but at least one expert (I think it was former WBA world champ Johnny Bredahl), who by the way knows Kessler well, felt it was as if Kessler was holding back. I don't know at what point in the fight he observed that but to me there's no doubt that Kessler in the later rounds was on all cylinders.

I'l say it again. There's just as much chance of a meteorite hitting the earth as a rematch. Joes only got a year left. He wants another couple of names on his resume before he retires. And these excuses seem standard face saving to me.

Well, the world is strange at times. Actually, after a few beers I can see a rematch in another weightclass. My gut feeling tells me that JC will surprise us and stick around for longer than a year. Come on Hopkins is ridicolous 42 years old. As long as JC can make big box why leave?;)

NO! He might have delivered the mother of all uppercuts and KOed JC in round one.:nut

I think it's pretty obvious he didn't have the power to KO JC or the variation in attack.

having watched a few of MK's fights that's easily the best I have seen him, he showed more adaptability than any other fight, he threw a more varied type of shot, upped his inside game etc yet still could win the fight. Fair play, he had a go, but the fight whilst competative wasn't that close. Comfortable UD and I doubt Kessler actually wants a rematch if he were honest... not yet. Joe could have boxed smarter and made his night much easier, he also held back on his punching which was pretty obvious to anyone that's seen him fight over the years.

As for hand problem, well that's hilarious, JC didn't spar before the Lacy fight at all iirc and has beaten opponents with one arm. Evans Ashira fight he had a broken wrist and still won. He's got a case for being the best SMW ever (although RJJ is my pick personally).

Why do people discredit both boxers with threads like these?

Sorry that i did not post it, the problem with only having internet acces at work:? .

It was the same clip as posted above.

However when discussing Kessler future the below link from today is interesting.

    http://jp.dk/sport/article1165442.ece

It basically says that Mogen Palle is close to quitting the business because he simply cannot summon the energi to keep going.

His health issues obviously plays a big part in this but he also hinted an ongoing fight with danish media.

I think that this makes all the speculation about new management for Kessler more relevant because i have a feeling that Betinna Palle for what ever reason will not continue alone for very long.

Thanks for that! Interesting, relevant news! Do you have a recent video of Kessler? It would be interesting to watch his facial expression and see his bodylanguage? Is he mentally scarred after the loss?:think

Even in a loss, Kessler looks better than Pavlik. Kessley beats Pavlik by UD. :hi:
