I don't think he's overrated. He is what he is. Ward fought a great fight and took himself to another level.

Kessler is/was a better fighter than what we saw tonight. Mother****er looked old or like all the inactivity has affected his accuracy and skills.

It also doesn't help that he's a very straight up, basic fighter and Ward gave him all those odd looks and angles.

Kessler is a good fighter not a great one and Ward easily showed that. Yes Kessler was overrated by Calzaghe fans to make Calzaghe look like wasnt cherry picking. Calzaghe best wins old shot Roy Jones, old Hopkins, and an overrated European.

Kessler is IMO overrated by SOME. He's a very decent fighter though; he's fought many good level super middleweights before and looked great.

I do think he looked like he'd lost something tonight, obviously only fighting a couple of low level fighters in two whole years doesn't really give him much preparation for such a fight as this. However, from tonight I have to say it clearly shows Ward is a level above Kessler at any point.

Bit of rambling there perhaps, but it's nearly 5am here!!

Neither of these guys can be considered anywhere near great yet.

Ward fought a smart fight which is his MO. Its the reason I've always backed him even when people still thought Dirrell was better than him I was always saying that Ward was the one to keep an eye on. The man is not just flash he fights SMART.

That being said, I don't think he dominated Kessler. But maybe thats cause after the first round I turned off the sound cause I knew right away the commentating would be too biased. I don't know if I was right but from the comments on the board I would guess that I was.

As for all the people on ESB complaining about headbutts, its part of the game. You do what do have to do to win the fight and Ward outsmarted Kessler. But I do think the ref should've warned him alot as well, cause Ward was really leading with his head repeatedly. Often they would be in a clinch and as soon as there was some space created Ward would lunge in with his head.

Ward and Kessler still the 2 best fighters in the tournament. I'd like to see a rematch in Europe to see how it goes.

IMO both are really good fighters, neither are great yet.

A little bit of both. I actually thought Kessler would beat Ward but man Ward impressed me.

That basic 1+2, and no head movement can only get you so far.

Overrated, CATEGORICALLY. Ward is flawed, but he might get better. Problem is he's still green. Kessler just got his ass handed to him by a flawed, inexperienced "green" kid with only 20 fights. Ward out jabbed Kessler, out fought Kessler, and made it look embarrassingly easy. I would have been glad to see Kessler prevail, but there was little ever doubt he was very good overall. He's pulled straight back in every fight, telegraphed in every fight, and generically thrown the 1-2 to mindless extent in every fight. Let's be real, FFS. Can't see it? You're blind, stupid, a sore loser, or biased. Apologies in advance.

Kessler isn't overrated. He is however overhyped, especially on this site.
