Terrible news if true, not for the super 6 but for Kessler, he's an excellent fighter would have loved to see him fight ward again on more neutral ground.

theres a live press confrence going on right now......is the factual enough?

Kalle Sauerland has said "Disapointing news. Mikkell Kessler has pulled out of the Super Six. His career is not over but he will not be able to fight for a year. Professor Gerhard Lang Ulm, eyedoctor, confirmed yesterday that rest will lead to full recovery. Kessler suffered of problems with his vision. Muscle in his left eye injured. Kessler can train but no sparring or fighting for the next 9 months. He hopes to fight the winner of the Super 6 when he returns next year"

We've had a fight of the year candidate in Kessler-Froch, we've seen three undefeated guys lose their 0's facing the best competition in their division, we've seen the emergence of a future elite fighter in Ward, and the finals promise to be thrilling - heck, it looks like Froch might just make it through!

Not a flop, just a brave experiment that had a lot of risk involved in it.

Plus that eye injury explains why Kessler's accuracy may have been off. Poor sod, he's had a rough time since losing to Calzaghe.

I'm guessing, as the pull out is on medical grounds, Showtime won't get all legal about this?

What happens with the WBC belt? Will he have to vacate?

Hopefully they will make the upcoming fights semi finals as suggested!

What this tournament has done is highlighted the shortcomings of such a format. Needs to be quicker, a round robin would be much better. Start with 8 fighters, quarters, semi's and final. Could all be done in 12/18'months.
