Kessler got his purse from Sauerland. It's not Showtime that pays the whole deal you know. Skysports in Britain, ARD in Germany and TV3 in scandinavia pays as well.

Believe my numbers as far as Kessler's purses. They where made public.

Dude, he did not get a counteroffer to do so. I bet Bute's purse was about the same as Kessler's , around $3mils + -

Nevertheless your post makes the most sense in this thread :good

I'm with the poster that said both Interbox and Sauerland were bluffing. Most probable scenario is that Interbox send a worthless offer to Sauerland for a fight in Montreal and Sauerland countered with a similar worthless offer for a fight in Denmark or Germany...

Laffie you are desperate. IF Interbox offered 3M that is CLEARLY a lowball offer. IF they did then SURELY Sauerland has offered the same for Bute to come to Copenhagen as that would ensure him a hefty profit. That's why Bute refused to leave his hometown.

If Interbox really wanted the fight they'd come up with something much better.

What is perhaps the case here is that Interbox offered 3M for a fight in Montreal.
Sauerland countered with the same offer for a fight in Copenhagen.
Then the negotiations stopped as none of the parties showed that they REALLY wanted the fight.

Kessler-Stieglitz and Bute-Pavlik are both good match-ups and hopefully Bute and Kessler wins and then a unificationfight is in the cards that is worth a lot more than a fight right now would be.

    Business my man. Business.

So when you are asked, at the end of the Bute Magee fight : Mikkel, are you still willing to fight Bute? A : Of course, I will kick his ass anywhere! and then they take the WBO path and take on an ortodox tune up . It seems ;like they were the ones not wanting the fight :good

I'm sure that is what happened.

At the end of the day this fight should take place in Copenhagen in front of 40.000 fans and 5 mill $ for each. Not a lousy 3 mill somewhere in Canada.

'Stay-at-home Bute' is trying to build a carreer on everything that is holding boxing back .Fighters who are too scared to fight outside of their comfirt zone are the reason why too few good fights get made - and Bute so far fits the bill perfectly.

Dru has taken so much stick in recent years that he is reaching really far for a little payback. Pathetic.

It would be sooo easy to spin this story so Bute looks like a prime duck. In reality dru should just be content and enjoy the fact that Bute looks to be fighting Pavlik after Mendy which is the toughest fight of Bute's career so far and gives him a name opponent on the resumé.

That is an interesting matchup I would love to have that fight televised in Denmark.
