well from a manegment pov it's a good fight - Kessler gets an easy belt and is easier to sell afterwoods - ontop of that the fight is in Denmark, so Palle makes a good bag of money on it. All in all an decent comeback-fight - nothing more nothing less...
This feller ain't no world class opponent. It's not even obvious he's Euro level from his resume. Sean think's he's good, though. That's reassuring.
well apart from two issues: 1. Miranda has no belt 2. Miranda is a bigger risk (and Palle might want to see if Kessler is damaged goods) Apart from that Sartison is a hudge step back for Kessler ... but a WBA-belt and I think Kessler will be back in the picture for a bigger fight - proberbly Taylor in late 2008 - bith DiBella and Palle has talked of that.
does anyone know how much longer kessler is contracted to these clowns for? ...and does he have the balls to walk away from them? or is he still caught up in this whole loyalty shizzle?
Yeah, there's the belt too. I was hoping Kessler would fight Froch for the WBC belt. Who's going to expose Froch now?
I figure Sartison is a decent enough come-back fight but Miranda would have been better. Braehmer would have been better too.
As I have heard it is not possible to terminate the contraxts with Team Palle as long as you are rated in the top 15 in some abc. I dont even understand that this is legal but history shows it is very difficult to get out of a Palle contract, Mads Larsen needed 3 years and a load of money, i am not too sure of the details though. The only hope would be that some american promoter would buy Kessler out, but with Palle becomming increasinly senile that does not seem easy either.
i don't think there's too much of a problem with kessler taking a tune up or easier fight after coming off a loss to calzaghe. but the fact that palle and co talked up the opponenet as one of the really big names and being a world class operator blah blah is what gets to people. that is some ricky hatton style bullshitting.
Well, Kessler gets to fight for a belt without changing weightclass. Not the fight we were hoping for, but as a comeback after a loss, it is alright, I guess. This is what I expected from Palle, and I'm not that disappointed, as long as we see Kessler in action in October/November again against Bute or Taylor.
Yeah, problem is not so much with the opponent. Mundine ran away, Bute ain't ready, Calzaghe doesn't want to rematch and Kessler couldn't fight Froch at short notice. The reason I'm disappointed is that Miranda was there for the taking and they turned their backs on him.
