 Boring and disappointing from palle & co If it turns into a good fight, it might hurt Kessler - seeing as hardly anyone had heard of this guy.
Yeah! Perhaps it's a good idea to check out Sartison before we pass final judgement on Palle. It's got to be part of a bigger plan. Maybe a way to feel content with the situation is to view it as a two-step-rocket? Just trying to ease the dissappointment.:hi:
Exactly my thoughts. If you fight only two times a year a no-name opponent like Sarasst (who) can't be justified.
thats what happenes when you are stuck in a contract that is nearly impossible to get out of and you are the best fighter in the stable
Exactly! This is my major beef here. When Kessler looks back on his career and sees a 10-month or so stretch of his prime when his only fight was Sartison, he's going to regret. That's a lot of money to leave on the table. Palle seems very insecure. He should have full faith that his man would have beaten Miranda. For whatever reason, he just didn't want that fight. It was a big payday, on American TV, against a popular opponent, and the setup would be perfect for Kessler/Taylor at the end of the year. Perhaps that fight will still happen, but Jermain has more options (e.g., Trinidad) than Kess.
The fight isn't great but it's not that bad either. Middle of the road which is probably just about acceptable given the 0 defeats on this guy's record. As I understand it Miranda bailed on the Kessler fight, not the Dane so that seems to be an irrelevant point. The thing I'm completely confused about is how this could possibly be for the WBA belt. :think Calzaghe is the Super Champion Mundine is the Regular Champion Calzaghe may vacate/be stripped which would make Mundine the main man at 168 for the WBA. What will this fight determine exactly?
I don't think its to bad of a fight. Its Kesslers first fight back from his first defeat and its a relatively easy way to get a belt considering the opponent. So if all goes to plan, Kessler gets to rebuild his confidence after his first defeat and gets to pick up a belt aswell giving him more bargaining power when dealing with the bigger boys of the division later down the line. You might not like it but its quite good business sense shown here by Palle. I didn't think Kessler could fight Miranda because isn't Miranda fighting Abraham?
I've seen very very little of Sartison, so I have no real idea of his power. His record doesn't indicate that kind of power, but then again Sean said his hands are heavier than his record reflects. Kessler chin has been tested and pasted the test well - so I don't have much doubts in that department. Sartisons size and style seems well suited for Kessler - it should be a wide UD or late stoppage for Kessler. As for Miranda's power - I find it some what overrated - he carries good power yes - but he is no Tyson by any means. He caught Pavlik clean loads of times and Pavlik's chin isn't granit - he also failed to stop Abraham who fought with a broken jaw for most of the fight. I doubt very much Miranda would catch Kessler with a shot powerfull enough to do any real damage - but that's all academic for now - lets just hope we get to see the two fight one day.
Well part of the long break was due to Kessler having handsurgery - for which he still carries protection when he traines - so that might also be a factor in the decision to choose a weaker opponent for Kessler. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for now - if he fights in august/september again versus a good opponent I'll forgive him As for the "world class opponent" remark - it can only **** none danes off - Danes has heard that kind of retoric for years and years from Palle :yep :yep :yep
