    Very disappointing on Kessler's behalf.

Perhaps Calzaghe took his heart, rather than just his undefeated record and titles.

This 'regular' and 'super' champ business is all a load of bollox dreamt up by the WBA anyway. Calzaghe is THE WBA super middleweight champ and that should be the end of it until he vacates

Kessler should take Sartison and Haussler the same night, no waste then

    Another year???

so Mundine -> Lucas -> Beyer -> Andrade -> Calzaghe was a waste of time??? (two mandatories and two unification fights)

It's fairly likely that Kessler will be facing Taylor or Jones by the end of the year - mainly due to the WBA-belt - not a complete waste in my book. (although Häussler is)

No, it's not...not if he has to face Haussler! Kessler always takes his time in between fights and he never fights more than twice a year. Given his first fight this year is in the middle of the year...it will be Sartison and Haussler for 2008...

well Kessler has fought more frekvently earlier - when the opponents where weaker - Häussler is weaker and should take long prep for Kessler :)

Kessler has only preped 6 weeks for Sartison - that's a record low.

So, Kessler's 08 schedule will consist of Saritson and Haussler?

The top man in the division, assuming JC is now a permanent 175er, and this is his schedule for the year.

The sm division is deep he has plenty of bigger and better options.

Again, if this if his schedule for the year than

Yeah it's not the best - but considering his latest opponents I can live with it - but for the fun of it lets compare to the other top-fighters in SMW

    Bute: - Joppy
Froch: - Rybacki  (crap opponent - but not Froch's fault)
Mundine: - Hamdan & Soliman
Lacy: none in 2008 - but Manfredo in 2007
    Inkin: - no fights
    Miranda: Banks  & Abraham

Result: 2008 not the year of the big clashes in SMW - why - well everybody are waiting for the King to retire, so the belts will be up for graps - stupid to risk your ranking at this point...

Well it"s not like anyone good at 168lbs would be available anyway.

Froch is waiting for his shot at the WBC sometime in the fall.

Bute's fighting Andrade in September or October.

    Mundine's running to 160lbs.

    Inkin is a coward.

    Taylor's fighting Lacy.

That will be his career, arent you following closely the Palle Machinations dont you realize thats what going to be done. A bull**** title they can milk for decent paydays in any number of bull**** arenas overseas to stuff the teams pockets. No chances no risks just a parade of cans and no hopes while the cashflow rolls in.

Sure - that was what they did the last time...

Get your facts strait - Kessler faced Lucas as the only defense that wasn't either a mandatory or a unificationfight - It isn't Dawson/Mundine we're talking about here!

If he is facing Häussler then it's because Häussler is mandatory (how the h*ll that ever happened).

Correct you seem to be about 2008 being a year for s. middles not mixing it up.

But, a couple of them, Lacy-Taylor, Bute-Andrade, and Miranda-Abraham look like they have or atleast might land signifigant fights yet this year.

Just because the rest are doing it doesnt mean its a good idea for Kessler to do so, right in his prime years.

Kessler wasting his year is a bigger waste than the others simply because Kessler has more to offer.

Kessler didn't have to go this route he had a showdown with Miranda with Showtime on board all but signed, sealed, and delivered, as Stevie Wonder would've said.

If Kessler makes fight with RJJ, JT or anoter similar caliber fighter, then I think WBA will have to forget about Haussler if they want to be taken seriouse. Rankings and Mandatory's has changed before.

At least getting Kessler as the regular champ and JC as the super champ WBA got it is right in SMW. Why spoil that wits Haussler?
