I think Kessler mixes the hook well, here's an example.
The only issue with Kessler is that he's reluctant to go to the body.

I'm aware that Kessler hooks, I've just never really seen him do much damage with it. It's in his repertoire of punches but it works more as a means of setting up his other punches and to mix things up a bit. If I was Kessler's opponant it wouldn't be his hook that I was worried about, it's a bit telegraphed. A stoppage in your first pro fight doesn't make you a devastating hooker. (But if he knocked out Calzaghe with an uppercut, like he nearly did, then that would have been something).

His hook sucks. I'm being honest, its poor. It's not a tight hook, its like a round house, so unless you are as lacking defensively as Andrade it won't hit. Maybe it will hit Froch, infact thats quite likely.

Kessler hasn't done much bodywork since dismantling Manny Siaca so I wouldn't get your hopes up.

What is more salient in that video is that he is throwing 5 or 6 straight punches in a row in a combination. That is unusual to do that consistently. Most fighters would generally have 2 or 3 hooks in that. And this is in addition to his his general peppering of the jabs and 1-2's. That is my point. And this is against the human punching bag Andrade who he could basically do what he wanted against.

This is true. He drops his left low and then brings it up. Everyone sees it coming (other than Andrade and maybe Mundine once or twice). But who cares, what he does works.

Kessler was working on specific parts of his game at specific times there, not trying to win rounds or look good. Just sharpening his tools.

The only fight I can remember where Kessler did not hook almost at all was against Mundine.

He did throw a few hooks in that fight, but it sucked, like Kessler said before and after that fight, he was afraid to throw to many hard shots and punch through.. his back injury was still not healed! So he did almost jab his way to win. Mundine was Kesslers worst fight perfomance ever imo.

Maybe Murat can pick up a head of steam and wait on the other side of the tunnel for 2011. That might be a nice showdown eventually. :D

2nd page of reading and LOL.

I agree that Kessler allowed Murat to come in sometimes.
And that he wasn't going all out. Naturally Murat was giving it more because he is the younger underling.

    That sparring is better than
the fight someone posted of a Murat fight in another thread.

This did show us that I dont think AA can beat Kessler.
Kessler was getting through that defense to much.
