    From his newsletter:

2007 is comming to an end and when I look back I feel good inside.
The fight against Librado Andrade in Copenhagen was super and I have got the impression that it was a good fight for all the viewers.
Luckily I wasn't the only one feeling that way and I think that's how the Calzaghe fight got realized.
Off course I still regret that I didn't won the fight, as I feel like a better boxer than Joe Calzaghe, but unfortunately that is not always enough.
On the day I might not have been 100 %, but I felt really good in the ring and yet he was too smart.
Anyway it was a great experience which I wouldn't bee without and I really hope that all of you out there feel the same way.
If I should ever get the chance to fight him again, I would be ready.
2008 will be a year of new challenges and my goal is to be World Champion as soon as possible. It's truly my ambition to win back "my" belts and ad some more to them. How this is going to happen outside the ring, is for my manager to sort out.
I heard some roomers that I was going to quit, but as long as I feel hungry I wouldn't even dream about it. I'm mentally and physically on the peak of my career and really look forward to step into the ring again and prove that I'm good and skilled boxer.
I would like to thanks all of my fans for supporting me and off course my family, sponsors and the rest of team Kessler, without you I couldn't live my dream.

    Mikkel Kessler

Cool. Best of luck to Kess, he's one hell of a fighter and I'm happy to hear he won't be quitting.

Kessler has a hell of a career ahead of him which is amazing considering he has already had 39 fights and is a former unified champ.

I also think that he could beat Joe in a rematch. But not in Wales. Calzaghe in front of 50,000 of his fans is simply too damn good. Anyways its not gonna happen/

Every boxer needs self-belief. At least he's not arrogant about it, which is one reason I appreciate Kesssler so much. He's an admirable, respectable character.

actually on the inside Kessler outboxed Calzaghe. anyways just cause Calzaghe outboxed Kessler from the outside in the first fight doesn't mean it would be more of the same in a rematch. It was a competitive fight and it was in Calzaghe's home town, Kessler could definately win a rematch.

Benny ,Thanks for the translation glad to see Mikkel excepting his loss like the gentleman his is , However i still reckon Joe would still be too smart for him 9 times out of 10 .Calzaghe has the underated ability of being able to adapt to any situation in the ring and at the end of the day that was the difference between them in their fight .,Have a prosperous new year Benny it was a pleasure having the Danes over supporting their fighter ,Very vocal and well behaved a credit to your country and the sport . :good Regards Josey wales

He gave Calzaghe a hell of a fight, I'll say that. That fight looked like it could go Kessler's way after 6...

But simply wasn't to be. Calzaghe's stamina is unbelievable...Kessler still won a few rounds towards the end though just willing himself to take it to Joe. He almost won that fight but the better fighter won.

Still, losing a close fight against Calzaghe is no shame, almost no one could do that against Joe that night.

    It wasn't really close

    Competetive, but not close

Kessler won 3 rounds, 4 if you are generous

You have to admit Kesslers "Technique" is better than Joe's is. His punches are more precise, clean, and thrown better. Joe's punches are from everywhere, at every angle, with enough pop to make you change your mind about what you want to do next. Kesslers is grounded with some bounce. Calzaghe again is everywhere. Joe didn't box his ears off either...he just clearly won the fight. He definately did not land the more clean powerful shots...he just landed alot more lesser scoreing punches (Cept in round 11 where Kessler was hurt from that looping left)

Glad to see Mikkel squelch the retirement rumors. I saw the Calzaghe fight 117-114. It was an interesting match-up that held my attention through out. I hope Kessler can continue to make 168, because we all know Pavlik will move up before long, and I think Kessler and Pavlik are made for each other: Mikkel's skills against Pavlik's work-rate and power; a potential fight of the year in 2009.

He was clearly outsmarted in the ring against Calzahge, but I think a bit more preparation and a rematch could end up in his favor. The first few rounds, he was timing Cal on the way in, and was quite successfull. Landed a lot of crisp shots. Little did he know, Calzaghe has a steel chin and had the ability to adjust his gameplan. When Joe started boxing and jabbing from the outside, instead of stalking, jabbing, and creating his own openings, Kess was still waiting for Joe to come in. He didn't seem to have a plan B. Then, waited for the 12 round to apply some pressure and go all out.

Just go to mikkelkessler.com and sign up for his newsletter. He sends it out in english, and it's quite informative actually..
So the bad spelling is Kessler not I :)
