If anything this thread should be "Dawson, the next Calzaghe"...except Dawson fought 40 year olds ten years prior to the much criticized Calzaghe

When you right it down it really emphasises how steeply Johnson's resume drops off after his signature win.

Khalid Jones? Ulrich? A Griffen that was 3 years north of losing for Rico Hoye? Harding that had absolutely no opposition outside the Jones-Tarver-Johnson-Griffen circle jerk and was mostly on the losing end in that?

Those guys are all solid fighters. I could easily rip apart the so called "big wins" on Kessler's resume. Do you really think Beyer, Siaca, or Mundine have beat better opposition than Johnson?

This wasn't about Johnson though....everyone respects the Road Warrior particularly after his "loss" to Dawson....fact is Dawson is a skilled boxer but a little untested against top guys that match up to his age...in Calzaghe's reign of so called bums he fought Reid, Woodhall, Sheika...all no older than around the 30 mark.....all live and skilled opponents but Dawson is fighting old guys already....that would be my one criticism of him, cos he is a skillful guy but he needs a big name test as much as you say Kessler does

No, I think they're fairly comparable.

That's a complete joke. Johnson's level of comp is above all those guys.

We're talking about his wins, not his level of competition.

Exactly....Peter Buckley fought Naseem Hamed....does that mean he could beat Amir Khan just cos he has a bigger name on his record??

The top guys at LHW are older, that's not Chad's fault. Would you give Dawson more credit for beating Hopkins or Tavoris Cloud? You get respect for beating the best, not beating the youngest. Woodhall and Reid were young, but weren't that good.

I think you comments are a joke, and proves u know nothing about boxing. It was both hopkins and RJJ that refused to fight calazaghe in the past not him. Also kessler said he would fight anyone anywhere, so why the knowledgeless remark? And who are these top class fighters that Kessler avoiding and waiting for to age to fight u are u talking about? Lacy, Pavlik, Froch, Bute? Give nm a break and educate yourself dude.

Of course Johnson's wins are better than Kessler's, this is clear.

Reid and Woodhall both went to olympics and both were belt holders in the SMW divison....both very good fighters.....and Sheika was worse than those two....he beat Johnson....the got caned by Calzaghe so I can argue that you're wrong

You give Calzaghe no credit for excelling in a weak SMW division so why should anybody give Dawson credit for doing well in a poor LHW division??

    Your logic not mine

No, it's not clear at all.

Even if it was, you have absoluely no idea of how or why.

At least BigReg can make a coherent argument.

True....we've been debating on this thread without arguing like kids cos you have to back up your claims and BigReg knows boxing as does Cobbler.....you're (jaycuban) just a guy who bashes guys without any knowledge

I'm talking about his wins. Woods, Tarver, Harding, Jones; Siaca, Beyer and Mundine don't have those type of wins.
