I would say overall tougher, everything factored in. Hopkins gave Joe a tough test, and just got by IMO, he had an eaiser time with Kessler, and actually overpowered him with punches and workrate, Calzaghe beat Hopkins on the workrate, but hardly the power, Hopkins was the bigger puncher tonite.

I don't see a location next to Fallow's av. How do you know he's British? Everyone who didn't shower Hopkins with rounds for timing a few right hands is British? Am I British?

I agree with you, Calzaghe didn't look that impressive tonight, he wasn't landing the combinations he did against Lacy but then, he was fighting a very elusive Bernard Hopkins.

B-Hop just didn't do enough to contest the decision and Joe landed enough to win, that was it really.

To the other guy who reckoned JC was shitting bricks up until the last scorecard, of course he was, his 1st fight in the States, the female judge had already gone against him and he knows all too well what can happen toforeign fighters in Las Vegas when it comes down to points against a US legend ... Lewis/Holyfield?

Joe was coasting in the Kessler fight. That fight was not even competitive. Joe had to dig deep tonight just to come away with a SD.. I honestly dont know wtf you people are watching sometimes...

Well sure. Much if not all of what you just mentioned can - and ought to be attributed to the fact that unlike Mikkel, Bernard had the edge in size and strength over Joe. In strictly a H2H sense, Bernard was able to make Joe toil a bit more. In a p4p sense, Kessler landed more shots and cleaner shots (if perhaps not harder shots...again, IMO due only to the size difference) on Joe than did Hopkins.

Stylistically I still think Kessler poses more problems. In a rematch, I'd favor Calzaghe over Kessler by a slim margin (as I do think Kessler is intelligent and adaptible, more than he's given credit for, and judging by interviews he's a pretty self-conscious and analytical guy and avowed that he would bring a very refined gameplan to a rematch). After tonight, I do not see Hopkins winning a rematch unless the decline of Joe's physical tools accelerates to a ridiculous degree overnight.

Good points, I too think Kessler would fare better in the rematch as well, Kessler just needed to experience being on a big stage like that, against a top fighter. I feel comparing both fights, Hopkins was the tougher fight for Joe, judging by Enzo in the corner, I feel he would agree as well.

Hopkins/Calzaghe 2 would be a similar fight, the only way I could see Hopkins winning is by early knockout or stoppage, which could happen, but not likely. In another year or two, Kessler will be ready for Joe again, and I would probably favor him if the rematch does come off.

That's a fair post. Joe landed a few lead left hands that did seem to bother Hopkins a bit though but not like that first right hand that put Joe down.

Hopkins gave Joe a tough test tonite, Joe passed with C- IMO, hopefully he can take what he learned and apply it to the rest of his fights in the future.
