Kessler would also pound Pavlik, nevermind Calzaghe,

Good timing ... that's what I did around the '87 crash from Finance/Economics

Difficult time and market for those coming out of school right now (I imagine) ...

The argument over Pavlik's resume' and Kessler's resume' is a bit silly. Both fighters were brought along exactly as they needed to be. Obviously I know a lot more about Pavlik than Kessler.

Pavlik was more or less protected for about 20 fights. At one point Top Rank pitted him against Anthony Ivory for christ sake! That looks hokey as hell unless you know the back story. Top Rank felt that Ivory could make the distance without being a real threat. That gave KP the opportunity to put in rounds of boxing at a time when he was knocking everyone out in 2 or 3 rounds.

If you look at Pavlik's last several opponents it's easy to see a gradual progression. He climbed up the food chain in small increments.

Zuniga: Two promising prospects fought an all out war.

McKart: Way past his best, but still cagey, a southpaw with some big fight experience, a decent record, multi tiime title holder, never stopped, et.

Miranda: Remember! HBO thought this was a showcase fight for Edison!

Taylor x 2: we all know what happened there.

I'm sure that those who know Kessler as well as I know KP could make the same arguments for his resume' that I've made for Pavlik. Furthermore there is absolutely nothing wrong with bringing a fighter along thoughtfully and carefully. It is the only way to avoid evil bull**** like Davey Moore/Roberto Duran!

It's pretty rare these days for boxers to respect each other like Calzaghe and Kessler have. There was never any bad mouthing before, during or after their fight and both speak highly of the other to this day. This is nice to hear.

Kessler is 100% right about Calzaghe/Pavlik. If ever there was a boxer out there waiting to be cruelly exposed by Calzaghe, it's most definately Kelly Pavlik.

Kessler is right, Pavlik is not that well schooled or experienced!

This is a fight that I'd pay a lot to see.

Well, I'll give you that Kessler knows his own limitations with respect to Calzaghe.
