@Kessler to face Bute in Oct.....GREAT NEWS ! I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE... THIS IS WHAT WE ARE ALL WAITING FOR...I MIGHT CROSS THE POND FOR THIS ONE! HOPE IT HAPPENDS.
will never happen, as this requires major balls on Bute's part and he and his team really havent done ****! and yet find themselves getting million dollar paydays to fight cans, all the while finding themselves on manys short list of top 168 pounders. Why change things now? Why risk the possibility of Kessler kicking Butes ass? and dont let a small thing like trying to prove he can Better what Ward did and smash Kessler worse, so we can compare and contrast and actually begin to feel, yes Bute is the real deal and a threat and actualy get excited .... wont happen. For me the jury is still out on Bute.
I hope this is a joke Kessler has fought a whole host of top 168 fighters who exactly has bute been fighting recently???
Wasn't Kessler the one who about fighting the SuperSix winner was advising Bute to step down not long ago not even thinking about a fight that would've solve the problem.
I'd see this one playing out like Kessler vs. Froch in this sense: Bute'd get the 116-112/115-113 type UD in a super close fight where tons of people ***** and complain about hometown fighters. -Coming from someone who rates Kessler higher than Bute at 168 and P4P
Some quotes from a radio interview (Jan '11)... LB: -I'm willing to face anyone in the division. -I'm disappointed the WBA champ we made an offer to refused to unify. -2011 and 2012 will be big, huge years for me as S6 fighters will become available. -I think the S6 final will be Froch-Ward. SL: -Same here, Froch-Ward. -I remember when the S6 kicked off, I and a lot of other people had Kessler favourite. -Jean Bédard talked to both HBO & Showtime for a long term contract. -Showtime thought they had a superdeal for us with Kessler for March 19th, we were like 'yeah, that's exactly where we wanna go', but it got trashed because Kessler was unavailable and injured... therefore not free before the summer. Magee was Showtime's choice, not ours. LB: it's not easy for me to go up and down in weight, as it's very demanding if you look at differences in power and at the extent of the pre-fight training camps. SL: definitely, we want Kessler in 2011. That's our goal, and we're certainly hoping to get him in a fight with Lucian before the end of the year.
I feel bad for Kessler. First his promoter problems took away some of his best years. Then he gets this eye injury. Eye injuries are a ****ed up thing for a boxer to get. I have mad respect for Kessler's heart and spirit. But I don't think he is the fighter he once was. I'm picking Bute to win a close one.
Even though this fight happens, I'd like to see Kessler rematch Froch ASAP, because that fight was great and extremely close imo. I doubt this fight will happen right away though, but if it happens I hope the judges and ref will be unbiased, but I suspect it will go down as a hometown decision for Bute in Montreal, if Kessler doesn't get him out of there.
If this triangle matchmaking revolves around the IBF belt, Dirrell could fight Mendy in May/June, claim the IBF mando status and fight the winner of Kessler-Bute (now rumored to happen in June) in Oct/Nov. Winner of all this meets the WBC/WBA titlist in Winter/Spring next year and provided the winner of Stieglitz-Sartison doesn't hide in a bunker, we could have a lineal champ @ SMW by 2013. :bbb
If Kessler can only fight him in October, then Bute must either unify belts or fight Dirrell in the summer. They wanted 3 fights in 2011. Edit : Actually Kessler's now ready for June...even better !! Dirrell can wait til' the fall if so...
- I really hope this fight happen. - I dont doubt Bute and Kessler wanting to fight the best there is. - I think that if the Kessler from Ward/Froch fights is fighting Bute it will be a good fight, but a one way victory for Bute probably by stoppage. - If its the prime Kessler I see it as a 50/50 fight that could be one of the best fight of the year. - As a Bute fan, I was wondering when Bute will be able to face the good fighters in his category and I feared that his best years will go to waste. - For sure for now, Bute have to beat Magee and I remember that when Bute faced Brinkley he wasnt 100% focus on the fight and it wasnt his best performance. And even if he made a good training camp (he his a training machine), if he is not 100% focus he could look bad and it will be dangerous for him. - From the Brinkley fight, he tried to much the homerun and Brinkley was able to counter him. I dont think that Magee will try to defend and counter Bute, its not his style, but against Kessler it might be the way to beat him with straight right when Bute gets frustrated and try the famous uppercut. - One of the thing that "haters" of Bute we can all see is that they talk too much, saying stuff they cannot prove and they are trying to attack Bute's fan personally. If this fight happens and other fights with other top 168 happens, they will be wrong. But I cant understand why now some of the Bute's fans are now doing the same. I say, lets be happy that they were wrong and show them that Bute's fans are gentleman and classy people.
