I would say Kessler-Dawson is not quite a superfight yet. If it grows into one over time, that's great. Kessler will have his hands full at 168-pounds soon enough.

I don't get it ppl calling Kessler a coward. He's stopped two world title holders, he faced consistent top 10 comp, went into tricky Mundine's backyard, and went into Calzaghe the great's backyard with a damaged left hand, giving what Joe admitted was his toughest fight.

yea i know, thats why i said Kessler would have to clean out his division which would take about 2years and Dawson would have to get some fights on HBO and clean up his division for a fight btwn. them to be a super fight

but uhhh yeah....i dont think Kesslers a coward, and they did say Risk/reward....so basically if theres more money, and Dawson becomes a big enough name they'd take the fight if the reward is right, so it's not like it's ruled out completely, just for the time being, and you cant be mad at that

I can name at least 5 fighters Calzaghe fought who punch harder than anyone Dawson has fought...

Im danish too. And they did turn it down. Palle argues that he is almost a cruiserweight. "its not just piece of cake, to step up 2 classes. look what pavlik did."

No, I'm not. I translated it truthfully and the best I could even though I don't like what it says and it does not reflect well on Kessler, or certainly not his management.

    Good post:good

I'm skeptical of this fight being made for next year as well b/c neither guy has a big enough name yet and the risk/reward is totally dispriportional.

I was going to back you up on this one, but would it have made a difference to the person making the post? :-( I'll vote management on this one.

Sounds like HBO pitched it to Palle trying to line something up. HBO is in the business of trying to make interesting fights after all. Badgered Pavlik out of his mandatory into a Hopkins fight.

It took me five minutes to comprehend your post because I kept getting distracted by your avatar. :yep

I do agree with your point; I think Kessler and/or his handlers would rather not risk fighting a guy like Dawson when they can make plenty of money fighting the Hausslers and Sartisons of the world. It's actually smart business.

Say what you will about Chad Dawson, but you have to be impressed with him for wanting to fight the best out there: Calzaghe & Kessler. That gives me much hope for him for the future; he might not turn out to be the pick-and-choose fighter he's been so far after all...fingers crossed. Still, if these fights cannot be made, he should fight his mandatory Cloud...:deal

I don't think he is a pick-and-choose fighter at all. You don't fight Tomasz Adamek, Antonio Tarver and Glen Johnson while being a choosey fighter. He also signed to fight that "shark" that keeps getting injured.

Chad wants the best and he will continue fighting the best.

Regarding the thread topic, Kessler can absolutely beat Chad but should definitely stay at 168 to clean that sh!t up. There are alot of good fights there for him.

There aren't right now...there isn't enough money/interest in a Kessler v. Bute fight or Kessler v. any other beltholder (Inkin!!), and Kessler gets no respect in the USA...so he is looking to fight someone there who was ranked and rated...who better than Dawson? Sure, a fight against Bhops would be amazing, but is Bhops going to fight the guy he described as a "Euro-bum"? I think Kessler's making a big mistake for not taking the Dawson fight now...it would have opened many doors for him in the USA that will now stay closed. Instead of going for the big money big fights US route, his promoter wants to take him down the route that opens the German market for him...against Larsen, etc...

...I think we'll be lucky to see Kessler in man big fights, even at 168 lbs in the next year and a half; with this in mind, he should definitely have gone for Kessler...

Valid points. Kessler needs to take an opportunity with a name fighter eventually I guess and the Dawson fight is winnable for him.

The only other alternative would be Kessler v. Froch, if Froch beats Pascal...in a unification fight. The thing is...Kessler could have fought Dawson AND Froch...:patsch

I am annoyed because Kessler deserves a break and when that break comes, his promoter Palle shoots it down!
