    From Kesslers website:

"...funny to read the press and the statements from my competitors these days. Carl Froch tells everybody he has put me into retirement –even though I handed him the first loss of his career. Lucian Bute says he will fight the winner of the Super Six tournament. He should not forget that I am first in line. I am the WBC Champion Emeritus, and unlike Froch, I didn´t lose my title in the ring. I am just taking a break to let my eye injury heal, and if all goes according to plan, I can start sparring again in a month or two. I hope to be back in June, and once the Super Six tournament is over, I will be the first to face the winner and reclaim my old WBA and WBC belts.” Says Mikkel Kessler. Latest news..

Kessler is a solid fighter, and we will never know if he was carrying some injuries during his losses. But eye injuries are a bad thing for fighters to suffer from.

I can see a real possibility of him losing vision in that eye if he fights on.

If he was the dominant champion of the division, then it may be worth risking. But at his best, he is probably in the top 5 SMW currently.

I'd love to see him come back and kick some ass. I actually enjoyed his fight with Froch quite a lot. But retiring might just be the best thing he could do.

Why is he making all those excuses with him being first in line , just fight the men for the shot at the S6 winner and all problems are solved. He's clearly ducking , He was the first 1 that got called by Interbox and said he's not ready yet. Then get well be ready and fight the men , he is willing. It's Bute who has the ongoing contract with Showtime ,if he deserve it or not Kessler is not first in line for the S6 winner and he knows it. That's why he started with the press talks. He is the first in line for the WBC, the winner can be stripped of the WBC belt, but that's it.

    Ducking who? Bute?! Please..
I haven't heard anything about Kessler being called by Interbox or not, so I wont say he hasn't. But say he. You call it ducking because he didn't feel ready to fight yet? You call it ducking because he doesn't want to risk losing his sight by fighting before it's properly healed? That's just stupid man.
Kessler was promised a fight with the super six winner because he got injured while fighting the top of the division. Ofcourse this deal was unofficial, meaning there's no legal obligation for the winner to fight Kessler. All the winner has do you, as you mentioned, is to vacate the WBC belt. But come on. As you saying Bute is more deserving of having a shot at the winner in June/July than Kessler? Bute last 2 opponents was Miranda and Brinkley.. and he's about to face off with Magee!

Bute fans are delusional. They are rooting for the most overrated fighter in years, who hasnt beaten anybody siginificant.

Again, post #67. Transcript from an interview; Bute's people did, are doing and will be doing everything to get him in the ring with Kessler.

If Bute-Kessler doesn't happen, and since Showtime had initially endorsed a Bute-Kessler fight for March, Kessler will have ducked Bute.

The emeritus-gets-first-crack deal is BS. Like the WBA, let alone ****in Showtime, doesn't have a say in this. That deal is purely a WBC issue, Showtime doesn't and won't give a ****. They saw Kessler pulling out due to injury, granted, but Hershman was all high on Bute when they announced the contract being signed for $6M. Come on. He might not deserve it in your eyes, but he's viewed as a man you gotta beat to be #1 SMW, which fits right in a post-S6 scenario for the winner. Before the S6 kicked off, Hennessy was on the verge of signing a contract with Interbox for Bute to fight Froch in England.

Where as you are entirely, totally objective in each of your comments. GTFO.

    1)

Allow me to repeat myself. How is it ducking when Kessler, because of his injury, cannot begin sparring before March?

    2)

I agree that when S6 began it would have been most logical for the winner to fight the best of SMW outside the tournament to become the undisputed Champ. BUT, let's say Kessler hadn't gotten his injury and he had fought against Green (and please dont tell me you think Green would have beaten Kessler...) That would have given him 4 points and the scores of the S6 would have been:

    1. Ward with 6 points because of his freebie with Dirrell
    2. Kessler with 4 points and 2nd place because of win over Froch
    3. Froch with 4
    4. Abraham with 3

That would have made for the semi's to be:
    Ward vs Abraham
    Kessler vs Froch II

Now I dont say Kessler would have won against Froch again, just because he did the first time, but he certainly had a good chance and after that he would have gotten a shot at redemption against Ward.

All of this was taken away because of a stupid injury, and now when he's finally ready to come back and get a shot at his old title's he's not worthy? and he has to work his way back up? Nah man. See if the injury hadn't happened, the logic choice would have been Bute, but due to the cercumstances I serously believe that Kessler has the right to fight the S6 winner before Bute.

Either S6 winner vs Kessler in the summer or Kessler vs Bute in an eliminator in the summer.

The way I see it, neither guy has the right to demand a fight with the S6 winner. Why should he(whichever guy) get a free pass? I can obviously see why either guy would want to, but hell, if it comes down to Ward/Froch, I'd contend that the loser should get a rematch before either of these guys gets a shot.

Let them fight each other first. Then lay claim.

Edit: I actually like both guys. But how would it be fair to the winner that he would have to fight thru 5 stages of the S6 against stiff competition while Bute did not, and Kessler missed 3 rounds due to injury. They could then be called The Man of the division by beating the guy who did all the heavy lifting. Just saying.

I don't think you understood the 'ducking' point I was trying to make. Showtime was the one putting forward the Kessler-Bute matchup. Kessler said he wasn't available until the summer, Interbox still wants him by the end of the year. What I said was that Kessler would be ducking Bute if the fight doesn't happen... true story. Kessler will have ducked Bute if the two of them don't fight by the end of the S6. Plain and simple.

By the way, "S6 winner vs Kessler in the summer" can't happen. But you already know that. :D

I'm just saying Hershman sees more potential (re: MSG in NYC) in a Bute vs S6 winner fight, than he does in either [Froch/Ward] rematch with Kessler. What sounds logical to you might not jive with Hershman's intent. We shouldn't even be debating this, as Kessler-Bute will probably happen before the tourney is over.

you know, I would be hard pressed after 4 or 5 tough fights in a tournament where every fights a challenge and exposure eminent, a tourney I just won so that I could give a guy who sat on the sidelines injured or fighting bums a ****ing walk over and shot at me, hell no! I would expect anyone with claims to fight 2 or three fights with challenges equal to the ones I took when winning the tourney.

Kessler and Bute **** you fight each other then fight the finals loser and then you get ur shot, maybe.
