I imagine he does hit harder than Sartison, but what does that matter? Kessler has a proven chin, and have never been down, save once as 16 in amateurs. Furthermore, there was ring rust, recent surgery and new trainer as the cause for Kessler being tagged more, Kessler will most likely be back where we are all accostumed to - possibly even more versatile than before. For better and worse most likely. Miles behind is an exaggeration.
1) If your chin is weak, you have to protect it more. 2) Bute was not stunned in any of his fights: want it or not, the chin is part of the defense. When Lewis was knocked down, I didn't say those nights he had a good defense. 3) Bute can wear his hands high, he does it in the 11th round against Bika. You show an example which proves the contrary of what you want to say. He usually wears them down because it works for him. 5) From rounds 7 to 10, Bika landed an average 9 punches per round. I don't call that a bad defense. At the end, bika was hitting air, the real hits were mostly off balance. That's part of a defense: you manage not to let your opponent hit you hard, keeping him off balance. Look again at those 2 rounds: saying a boxer has a weak defense when he's dominating is pretty funny. The Bika example is not your best, the guy coulnd't decide what to do, he was all confused at the end. That's the best defense you could have.
I'm not sure why these fellers go on about Bute's low right. He uses it to draw fellers in before landing that left on them. That's not his biggest problem in my mind, but the way he backs up when you lay pressure on him. Andrade will make it real hot for him, that's for sure! The way Bute fights, all scared and all, I cannot see Bute outscoring him too easily. He better change something, I tell you!
1. :rofl ****ing noobs. Just because you have a good defence does not mean you have a bad chin. 2. Bute seems to have a decent chin, however, I did not say that Kessler would KO Bute did I. He will take advantage of the glaring mistakes Bute makes and win a wide UD. Chin has nothing to do with defence. It has to do with how hard it is to KO you. Not the same thing. 3. If Bute has his hands so low all the time he will get beat up by an accurate puncher with good defence. 4. As you put it Bute "never got hit" in the second half of the fight. He clearly did. Punch stats should be taken with a pinch of salt. Watch the fight and make your descisons, I saw and proved in those last two rounds that Bute got hit by left hooks and right hands plenty of times. You can have a bad defence when dominating, how much you dominate a fight has nothing to do with how good your defence is. Pavlik dominates most of his fights and still gets regularly hit. He does not have good defence.
1) One should always protect oneself. The way you do it may vary upon your assets. 2) What???? Chin part of defense? Can only think of one in that category. Randall "Tex" Cobb. 3) Bute has indeed improved his defence, of which I am very glad, but it's still not great. I can't imagine what the advantage of keeping them down would be. It takes longer to launch a jab that way, and most other shots as well. It can't be counted as anything but a flaw. 4) Yes, being evasive is part of defence, but Bika had nothing left, and had no ideas on what to do, which makes it easier to be evasive. But does that help, when you need 6 rounds to have it going?
I never said good defense=bad chin. If you watch the fights the same way you read, that explains a lot. Sorry, but Bute was not hit plenty of times. Read my post again, slowly. Defense includes more than you think. It also includes offense.

Is this so complicated to understand? Look at Andrade, does he protect his iron chin? About Bute's down right hand, just read 168lb post. It explains it well.
Offense is a part of defence, however, Kesslers offense is superior which negates much of Butes offense. As Calzaghe's superior offense negated Kesslers offense Bute's defensive deficency's are pretty obvious and the fact he keeps his right low means that he is more open to Kesslers jab. Which is a bad thing for Bute.
Is it so complicated to understand that you should always protect yourself, no matter if you have a glass jaw or cast iron chin. Taking Andrade as an example is ill advised, since he lost heavily on points against Kessler because he had little defence. And therefore he has hired a new coach to improve it.
Ok, beside our evaluation of Kessler and Bute, I agree with your last post. Just don't forget Kessler's jab was not effective at all against Calzaghe, who's a southpaw. Like Bute. Kessler will have to make adjustments, because Bute's trainer has seen the fight against Calzaghe.
Bute does not fight like Calzaghe, is not as fast as Calzaghe and does not throw as many punches as Calzaghe. Calzaghe beat Kessler by out jabbing him. Bute cannot do this. Kessler can deal with soutpaw's fine, he beat Mundine who at this stage is a better fighter than Bute in my eye's. Even if he has no balls.
1) Kessler has fought other southpaws ie Beyer. 2) Forget it. Bute can't mimick Calzaghe. He lacks the speed, versatility, experience, and stamina. They are two totally different fighters. Calzaghe masters Brawling, Swarming, and fighting on the outside. And he can switch frequently between them. Furthermore, we can only assume that Kessler has learned from that fight also, and therefore he has yet another coach.
