Kessler v Bute

Decebal - I dont get this?

Im certainly not nasty againsy Bute - the dude can box, punch an dance. But his style is awfull vs Kessler and he hasnt really faced any good competition yet....

 

Jabbers have had success against Hopkins, check the Taylor fights for example, Taylor was able to do much with his long jab because it kept Hopkins from jumping in and also kept range when Hopkins wanted to play counter puncher. Kessler has a similiar length, but a better workrate generally and we already know he's got better timing and power/delivery, plus defence and sense of range.

Hopkins is one of the best inside fighters on skill, but it wouldn't go inside.

It'd be an ugly fight which Kessler dominates and takes on a wide UD, more spoiling for Hopkins.

Prime is interesting, I go with Hopkins, but the styles would have it competitive, trust me.

 

Interesting. So you definitely think he does a more convincing job than Joe - even if a lot was down to his decline? I mean Joe took it easily on an objective scorecard, but he still looked pretty horrible.

Why didn't Joe's jab work too well?

 

If it was me that was "getting nasty" it was nothing to do with how i feel about Bute.

Just that some of his fans do not have a clue.

Had Joe jabbed more, the success would have been there. Joe at times doubled up on the jab and it nullified Hopkins from looking for the counter and set up other stuff.

Bad gameplan from Joe, he could have really owned over Hopkins like we predicted, but instead came in with the whole swarm and overwhelm routine and allowed Hopkins some minor success. Poor performance.

Kessler would put a better performance in at this point, but Hopkins would no doubt find a way to last the twelve.

I also think the Hopkins that fought Joe would annihilate Pavlik, all he has is that come forward routine, totally open to counters.

I agree on this - and I do think that Abraham is the biggest puncher. Actually I consider him the greates threat to Kessler together with Dawson.

Bute will be considered the #2 smw over the next years because Kessler will most likely face the more famous opponents and if they meet Kessler has a very good stylistic advantage. Pavlik is a joker to me. The guy throws alot of punches and he has insane reach. That is worrying for anybody. But Kessler jab is more precise and powerfull and the stylistic matchup also favours Kessler.

Im interested in Dawson career moves though. What will he do when he dominates LHW post Calzaghe?
