What I dont understand is why WBA, WBC & WBO picks a referee that is so controversiel that americans call Mogens Palle on the phone telling him, this is the one referee you do NOT want. I mean, enlighten me, is he the best referee out there and who just had a bad day at work or what? Is'nt there loads of great referees that could handle a fight of this magnitude? Why Mike Ortega when. apparently, he is such a lousy or controversiel referee? Whats the agenda behind that choise? OR is it just Mogens Palle talking bull****, opening up for an exscuse if Kessler were to loose?
I would fear anything Warren pulls out of his hat. There are too much future money at stake in this fight for warren to play it fair. Why is it up to "Warren" (indirectly) to choose anyway??? To be honest I'm still a lot more concerned about the judges, because Calzaghes hope for a win lies in a decision.
Well it's certainly also important for Calzaghe to be allowed to hit with the insides of his gloves - even if its not stricktly legal and likely to cause more cuts on the opponent. If he was warned for that - i simply dont think he can keep up the kinda handspeed and flurries he's accustomed to. This was only to be expected. Palle would have done the same if he could.
Of course he would, I'm not trying to defend Palle at all, he is almost as big a piece of **** as Warren. But in the end the real crooks is in fact the moneygrubbing ABC orgs for allowing either promoter to pull the strings.
The worst ref, without doubt, is Dave Parrisukke , with Vann running a close 2nd. So,to answer the question, consider yourself lucky.
this is the ref that was in charge of the damagard fight when he fought gatti in america. is that the concern ?????
i looked and ortega has been in charge of 1 calzaghe fight about 8 years ago v an argie who i do not think had ever been stopped. calzaghe layed on a real beating from memory and it was the cornermen who had to stop the fight to save further punishment to there fighter.
