Problem with Calzaghe is that he ruined so many peoples heros. Kessler a Danish icon has never been the same since, Hopkins and Jones, American legends beaten by a Calzaghe that came up in weight, and Lacy the new saviour at SMW, the mini Tyson soundly beaten.

Its hard for some to swallow that he found a way to win every time and they want to believe he got lucky, here make yourselves feel better

Calzaghe was just lucky, heres proof

Jones - Hampered by a cut for the only time in his career

Hopkins - Had a thyroid problem

    Kessler - Hurt his hand

Manfredo - Was just about to land a KO shot on Joe but the ref jumped in, damn Manfredo was just about to star winning

Bika - Hadnt gained valuable experience on the American game show the contender, where they have actors pretending to be boxers, one of those actors was going to beat Joe after his training there. See above.

Lacy - Jet lagged and said himself he looked like he was on drugs

Mitchell - The ref saved Joe, he was going to bounce off the ropes and finish the fight

Sheika - Was beaten by a headbutt

The list goes on. Calzaghe was just lucky and fighters just kept having off nights against him, time and time again.

You see im not a troll or nuthugger, Im looking at the fights through your eyes now. Joe wasnt good enough to beat any of those guys, I dont know how he did it all those times. A fake that went 46 -0 with 21 title defences, 24 title fights, won all the SMW belts and held Ring belts at LHW & SMW the only active fighter at the time to hold belts in 2 divisions at the same time. Lucky

    Golovkin guy :nono
    - Kessler landed the harder shots and made the fight close. There can be arguments that Kessler on Danish soil or neutral could have won the fight. It is like Sturm vs Macklin and who won there fight? ;)

Kessler fought one of his best fights against Joe Cal. He was unbeaten, in his prime and Calzaghe still beat him. Denmark would of been no different.

Wow...I'm a big Kessler fan but Calzaghe beat him easily. He would have anywhere. Joe's problem was that he was rarely motivated and didn't fight to his full potential, which gives morons the impression that he would have or even did lose fights...

There's more to just punching power at home. Its extra energy from fans, fans screaming at every punch whether it lands or not. Look at the last few years and say home turf makes no difference:

    Pascal - Dawson in Canada
Juan Diaz - Paulie in Tx
    Khan - Peterson DC
    Any Super Six Fight
    Huck Lebedev in Germany
    Froch Bute
    Alexander - Mattyhse/Madaina/Kotelnik
    Helenius - Chisora

Now start naming fights where hometown guy lost, only one I can think of is Paulie Senchenko off top of my head.

The Kessler Calzaghe fight was close enough where home turf coulda changed the outcome even if Calzaghe did win 115-113 and people wouldn't have called it a robbery.

Of course they were, they were hometown gifts. My point is kessler fights a little harder at home, crowd gets behind his every punch, judges think they are having a greater effect than they really are. BAM, you have a close Kessler decision that no one is going to ***** too much about. That fight wasn't a domination by any stretch.

I had it close but clear for Calzaghe. 116 - 112

Calzaghe's style gave judges every reason to score for him. He would out work and out land Mikkel.

As long as the judging is not corrupt, Joe beats MK IMO.

Before he fought Calzaghe, Kessler's best opponents were Mundine, Andrade and Beyer.

Of course he's looked worse against Calzaghe, Ward and Froch they are not Antony Mundine.

The only person hurt badly in that fight was kessler and he should thank the ref for bailing him out #bodyshot

I really like Kessler but the scoring wasn't controversial in his fight against Calzaghe. I also don't think his fight with froch was controversial as he clearly wona good competitive fight. People try and rewrite history to suit their favourite fighters, at this rate a a certain number of people will be claiming Chisora was unlucky against Vitali Klitschko in a couple of years!
