It was nothing like Sturm vs Macklin, despite that being a clear victory for Macklin on my cards that was still closer than what Calzaghe vs Kessler was. Im a big fan of Kessler's and have defended him numerious times on these boards but this is a ridiculous thread and should have been binned long ago, it embarrasing. Argueing that Kessler landed the harder shots against of all guys Calzaghe is a pretty easy one to make, so yes i will agree with you there. However Calzaghe landed more shots, had the cleaner work and just plain outboxed Kessler for 6 or 7 clear rounds in a row, an arguement can be made that Mikkel took 4 rounds, anything more than that and i'll have to say sorry but your off your head.

Its just butthurt superfans trying to rewrite history to suit thier guy better

" what if the fight was in Denmark ? " well if his aunty had been his uncle she'd have had balls !

I really like kessler but Joe would have beaten him in his own living room - just too damn quick and too clever , and who'd have thunk it - calslappy joe nearly broke the great dane in two with a body shot ???

No wonder OP superfan has a sore arse :yep

Kessler beats Calzaghe in a rematch, no doubt about it.

in the 8th round calzaghe kessler hurt with a body shot and was going in for the kill - untill the ref dragged him away.

    Calzaghe beats Kessler anywhere

Joe would have won in Denmark - it may have been scored closer but the bout would have played out pretty much the same IMO

Not every fighter fights the same in their own country as away.

How many examples can you think of where a fight was identical in two different home countries?

Fighters are not the same in a foreign country...

    Bute in England?
Winky Wright in France? which fight was he knocked down 5 times in America?

Kessler in Wales is not the same as Kessler in Denmark. Nobody is.

That point doesn't hold any water. Its part of a fighters makeup if they can handle fighting away from home

Look at Froch fought away several times lost 2
Hatton fought in the US won some lost 2 against the best in the world
Haye has fought in france and won went to germany and lost

But if Haye fought Wlad in England he would still get beat. If he fought Mormeck in England he would still win.

Kessler is a good fighter but Joe was just better. If the fight had taken place in Vegas or Wales Joe wins end of story.

Its not like it was a controversial fight either it was close and Kessler had his moments but Joe pulled away and that was it. Close but clear win for JC

Oh I agree with what you say Home advantage is exactly what is says it is - an advantage.

Cant answer your question regarding bouts being identcal in two different countries (would need a bit of thought n research on that) but I do think that if Froch fights Bute in Canada, it would go pretty much the same way. Also I think that if the Hatton vs Mayweather bout, if staged in England, would have gone almost the same way - again there may be a difference in the judges scoring and the ref may have let Hatton box on the inside more than he was allowed - but Mayweather would still have done the same job.

You've giving many examples of fighting away and losing. That just fits what I said.

Find a fighter who fought in opponents countries more than a few times didn't lose fighting away. They don't exist.

Fighting away is a lot harder.

I'll say this.... It's possible, as it was a relatively close fight, but it would have been the wrong outcome.

He might have gotten a SD win or a draw in Denmark - but that would just be the scorecards - he lost that fight!

You can compare it a bit to Kessler-Froch - Froch might have gotten a SD win or a draw in England - but he still "lost" the fight.

Your all have your own opinion and thats fine.
    - I would not call it a robbery if Kessler have got the W.
He did better than Williams vs. Lara & Helninus vs Chisora & Rios vs Abril....

DLH vs Sturm in Germany, Ward vs Kessler in Denmark (DQ), all super six winners won at home, lost away, Mayweather vs. Pac in the Philippines, Mayweather vs Cortiz away (DQ), Bute vs Andrade 1 ...?????

Home town advantaged is a huge factor - only stay at home fighters denies it.............:bart
