    Mikkel Kessler:

    Andre Ward:

In this fight, despite being the favourite, Kessler was soundly beaten.

    Why did Kessler lose?

From the opening round it was clear Ward would go on to win this, winning the battle at range and even more so on the inside, with excellent rough-housing tactics and holding meaning Kessler was totally nullified on the inside.

On the outside, Wards southpaw jab saw Kessler beaten to the punch time and time again. Wards quick cominations were extremely effective in opening up Kessler high-guard.

Ward was too quick and busy to counter and too evasive (duehead and foot movement)for Kessler to attack effectively.

Kessler shot? Kessler wasn't at his absolute best some people cited him not throwing the right hand when he had he chance as evidence. This was mostly down to Ward though in reality. Leading with right against him wouldn't have been smart.

Headbutts - clearly effected Kessler's vision, though a none factor as he was losing this fight anyway.

On away ground - though fighting away in different timezones didn't help, he was always going to lose to Ward in that form.

After a bright start, Kessler was clearly beaten throught the last 8 round of the fight, but came away with an enchanced reputation based on his early showing.

Why did Kessler lose and why it was at times competetive?

Ward stated in a recent Boxing News Interview that Kessler cannot handle angles and likes to fight fighters who stand in front of him.

Problem is Froch loves a tear up and will most probably meet him head on. Although i do sense he's a bit more focused on winning this one then entertaining fans.

    Good Post Btw!
