This matchup is very exciting! Kessler is accused of being shot and plans retirement if he looses. Kessler was the man at 168 before getting humiliated in Oakland. Kessler is in this fighting for his career. If he looses this one, he is out. Froch is being - Froch. A brutal non technical, awkward brawler type with power, endurance and chin. He got a debated decision in the UK against Dirrell but Froch is always right there and can KO his opponent or simply wear them down. This is a technician against a brawler. Always a good matchup. But who wins and how?
Lots of intangibles in this one. One thing is for sure, either Kessler turns a corner, or Kessler is done at the end of this fight. He's made an awful lot of noise about having ironed out his weaknesses and dealt with his problems - he's changed his trainer, of course. Froch, on the other hand, will do what he always did - no chance of his suddenly getting old, with his being battered less in his last fight than has been normal for him. So the questions all lie with Kessler. IF he's polished himself up, and he's turned the clock back a little bit and has the appetite again, he should be favoured. If he's unable to do that, he loses. My own feeling is that Kessler has genuinely lost a step and is going to rattle up an early lead before getting battered down the stretch. He'll be galvanised by the home crowd but it won't be enough to keep his head above water. I think he'll spend the last few rounds actually being bullied by Froch and drops a close decision, 7-5 on my card. Of course, if Froch drops points to fouls or KD's, he's got trouble, given where he is fighting.
Finding this one real tough to pick... Starting to get a feeling that Froch is gonna rough him up and stop him at some point. Just a hunch... Guess I'm still on the fence.
I still think Froch is a KO waiting to happen, but I don't know if Kessler will be the ko giver. But deep inside me, I hope Kessler will bounce back and show to Froch from what he's made of. If Kessler is not on ''predator mode'' on the fight night, its over for him, his career will be over.
I can't believe Kessler is such a betting favorite. Until he beats a guy with footwork and a little unorthodox style, I'm not going to predict he beats Froch. I hope he does, but wouldn't predict it.
Froch by UD ~ All he has to do is use his brain stay on the outside and pick kessler off ~ easier said than done but i think Froch will do it
Tough one to pick. If it was Kessler pre - Calzaghe id favour Kessler, but I have a feeling losing to Calzaghe and Ward may have made Kessler a different fighter at heart (but thats just an opinion). I think Kessler will start well landing good combinations, but late on (probably around the 8th) Froch will land some good clubbing shots forcing Kessler to not throw as much and allowing Froch to apply more pressure. I think Froch will win a close, possibly contraversial MD
Kesser managed to out-box Anthony Mundine in his prime and I know Mundine is a bit of a laughing stock, but he was a very good fleet of foot mover back then and Kessler found the answers. Froch is not as elusive as Mundine so Kessler should still be able deal with Froch pulling back and still catch him early on. Also, people assume Froch will take over late on (including myself) but there is the possibility that Kessler might take Froch apart late on himself as Froch starts to get wild. Kessler will keep firing and he keeps his 'form' well late in a fight as well being able to keep up a decent output, so Froch may have to abandon the late onslaught if Mikkel has gas in the tank. This is one of the hardest fights ever to predict. I'll go for Kessler. Being in Denmark should inspire him to produce a level that guarantees he's proficient in all departments.
kessler is bang up for this one, with the baying home crowd roaring him on...i expect the froch chin to be tested good and proper. ultimately, a UD for MK.
Should be a good fight. Too close to call in a way. I will go with Kessler as he has home advantage. But It wouldn't surprise me if Froch wins. I'm really looking forward to this fight.
