It all depends on which Kessler shows up. The old "Kessler the real deal" should win based on better technique. However, if Froch brings his footwork/running from the Dirrell fight and put in some dirty tricks, headbutting and holding, Kessler from the Ward fight is in trouble, serious trouble.
Nope. He still shutout Kessler, nothing can change that. Froch is more of puncher and more likely to knock out Kessler anyway.
Froch's going to give him problems, the reason being 1. Kessler has problems with angles-Kessler I realize is used to fighting very orthodox, straight throwing European based fighters. This is not a knock on Euro fighters. European fighters tend to have very excellent pure boxing fundamentals. This is what Kessler is most used to and most experienced with. Fighters that throw from unconventional/unorthodox punching angles are troublesome for the sheer fact that its difficult to adjust and get a draw on the opponent. Froch has two things going for him Unorthodox puncher+Difficult style Why I think Froch will dominate Kessler 1. Froch is an unorthdox puncher. He may lack defense, and his handspeed is only average. But he still manages to land, even if the shots are bludgeoning. His punches tend to loop and he will arc them around the gloves, or he throws from the hip and brings them up. Easy to see, not so easy to predict. -Kessler is going to have problems ad******g. If he does, it will take a few rounds. And Froch is going to be on top of him the entire time. It will be a difficult fight for Kessler style wise. 2. Froch is a pressure counter puncher. Uncommon to say the least, he waits for his opponents to attack and then goes on the offensive. He doesnt have the cat reflexes for it to be fluid, but his physical strength makes him difficult, and he his very heavy handed. -Kessler will fighting someone physically stronger than he is with a weird style. Froch I feel is most mentally resolute in the tournament. Cocky as hell, but a "kill em to beat em" fighter. If he can beat Kessler mentally, which Kessler can be beaten mentally, he can win the fight. And if he is losing a fight in the late rounds he is the type to come out and try to machine gun his opponent by throwing everything. Kessler has to stay composed the entire time. Froch isnt going to come apart. With that said Froch is not unbeatable by any means. A fighter with exceptional reflexes like Ward or Dirrell can certainly beat him. A good orthodox fighter that can adjust to his style can beat him. Speed will always give him problems. He can be outboxed. I would have originally thought Kessler would beat him. After the Ward fight, I think not. Kessler and his corner are poor tacticians. And unless they watch a ton of tape and have Plans A, B, and C laid out and bring in excellent sparring, Froch is going screw them all night. My PREDICTIONS 1. Kessler keeps the fight fairly even but gets caught early and hurt by Froch. If this happens over multiple rounds Froch will stop him in the mid rounds 2. Kessler is able to make some adjustments but the smothering style of Froch leads to him backing up. Froch can and will hurt him. By the later rounds Kessler will be ineffective and Froch will TKO him 3. Kessler does his homework and is able to keep the fight even throughout. He has to hurt Froch early, stun him, put him down. Slow him down through the first quarter. Froch in such case just goes to war with him, and he will win the championship rounds. Clear UD for Froch Most Unlikely Outcome 4. Kessler fixes all his problems, gets proper sparring, watches tape, gets better coaching, and comes into the fight and outboxes Froch and knocks him down enroute to a great UD.
I'm not at all sure Kessler is the same fighter he was a few years ago. He took an ass whoopin' from Ward even without all the intentional fouling on Ward's part. Ward just isn't that good. He was open to right hands, and nice tight hooks all night long, but Kessler didn't even seem to notice. Over and Over MK threw wide hooks and looping rights when it was obvious he should have been throwing right down the pipe. In addtiion, I could list a half dozen fighters around the weight that would have made Ward pay some heavy dues for all the cheating. Kessler just took it without any effort to retaliate. That's not a good sign. All the above really adds up to the fact that I am not nearly as confident as I once was. I still think Kessler knocks Froch out, but I won't be surprised if it goes the other way.
Kessler said two days ago that he was specifically informed not to try any form of foul play or he would get DQed. Whether it is an "excuse" for not retaliating or the truth I don't know. I can only imagine Kessler must have had some second thoughts about retaliation. Furthermore Kessler is a fan of clean boxing as his own boxing style expresses in abundance.
Cant really imagine Froch being able to take Kessler out of action, and neither can I imagine Froch being able to win a point decision over Kessler, but ..............you never know for sure. Kessler was hurt by Sartison.Froch for certain has far more pop in his fists than the newly crowned small Russian supermiddle champ. I will bet my money on Froch, but not much Kessler by wide point decision
The viking warrior will rise again. I hope the Ward fight was a wakeup call to not underestimate fighters. WAR KESSLER!
Froch may not be a skilled boxer compared to other fighters in the Super6, but his physical strength, aggressive style and his mental toughness are effective against any style and you would have to be a fool to get in a ring with him and underestimate how dangerous he is.
I think the Venue will probably be messecenter Herning: http://www.mch.dk/default.aspx?id=1 If not it will be Parken. If it's going to be Herning then you could take the ferry abroad to Jutland and then go to Herning by train :good
