    Why? It isn't like Green was landing effective punches on him during that moment beforehand, even though he had Kessler all but trapped on the ropes. Very good chance Kessler would have been able to tie up before Green could land anything else meaningful.

    Better to get dropped and get a standing 8 then wobbled and then KTFO, I think.

    Very true, I agree with that in principle (and think there's far too much of a taboo on boxers taking knees) - but IMO Kessler just wasn't in that much trouble anymore by the time Green ran up to him against the ropes. Didn't have his footing well enough to resist being spun down to the ground, obviously - but his head was cleared up as compared to the two seconds after that first big right hand. During that instant, Green could have probably blasted him to the floor legitimately if he'd jumped on him. Instead he let Kessler stagger backward unmolested, and it's during that time that I think the moment of extreme danger for Kessler passed.
