Because part of his game is to impose his power - much like AA used to do at MW. At a higher division that wont work so well. Super fast fighters are usually the ones that do the best going up in weight. Or fighters that have trouble making weight. Kessler has never had trouble making weight and just a couple of months ago he said that he would happily make 164 catchweight to fight Martinez. Green has trouble making 168. Johnson is another fighter who is better at 175 because it is hard for him making 168.
Abraham's problem in moving up wasn't the size but the level of his opposition. He was exposed by better fighters, not bigger fighters. He sure imposed his power on Taylor and Dirrell. Kessler is moving up against another fighter who has recently moved up himself. Size won't be a problem. He is also levels above Green so won't be facing the same problems that Abraham did.
Green is a washed up, never has been. Kessler is still a solid B+ fighter who is top 5 at either weight. This fight gets him an immediate shot at the BHOP Dawson winner unless Ward jumps in and steals it like most think he will. Kessler TKO 5 Green
He actually have had trouble making the 168 limit.. Kessler is 6"1" which is enough for LHW.. Abraham is 5"10" which is very small for a SMW..
If Kessler cannot beat Green handily, he should call it a day, I would say; no point going on and on - he's had an excellent career.:good
Kessler will be absolutely fine at 175. Look at him against Calzaghe, looks the best part of a weight division bigger.
Well maybe BUT...it won't certainly not happen against Allan Green. In his last fight, Green struggled and even got stunned by a natural feather fisted middleweight, Sébastien Demers.
That's EXACTLY what I was gonna say. If Green had trouble taking Demers punches (who actually fought at 154 for like 10-15 fights), he wont survive in a Kessler fight no matter how far Kessler is from his prime.
