Kessler. He does the basics well, which is the best stylistic component to beat Bernard Hopkins. Well-rounded, fast fighters that can adjust and don't make silly mistakes are efficient against crafty types.
Hopkins to pull one of those Prison shower **** scenes on this bums ass. Calzaghe hurt Kessler to the body...Hopkins snaps this dude in 2.
Kessler hasnt shown that he can vary his game...And we all know what Hopkins does to fighters like that. I dont see Kessler outworking Hopkins the way that Taylor and Calzaghe did, or being able to outbox him the way that a young Jones did. Kessler would lose.
Hopkins isn`t gonna beat him down anywhere! he could probably outpoint him with his dirty style.. but thats all! I would favor Kessler to win this one, i would even say Kess could be the first one ever to stop the old man! BTW all countrys have dirty judges!
Kessler is faster than Pavlik but they are pretty similar style wise. If the same Hopkins showed up that shut down Pavlik he would beat Kessler. I just have a hard time believing he could have that kind of a performance again. Then again, he has proven me wrong before.
Please people, don't compare Kessler to JT. JT is not conventional. He's awkward with his movements and throws from different angles. That's what made Hopkins weary. Not to mention, JT throws combinations. Kessler not as much. JT's combination punching is also incredibly fast. Kessler is 100% predictable. Haven't we learned by now that Hopkins would completely neutralize Kessler's one weapon?
You can't be active if the guy you're fighting is out of range or right in your chest kicking your ass. Hopkins won't stay in front of Kessler. He will completely neutralize Kessler's jab and 1-2 by dictating distance and pace.
Kessler's too straight up and basic to beat Hopkins IMO. He'd take his jab away, counter him, and rough him up on the inside. At this stage, who knows though? Hopkins hasn't fought in a while and he is 44.
