No fight with Hopkins is really good. But in terms of goodness in a Hopkins fight it probably doesnt get much better.

Kessler presents a new puzzle for Hopkins. An Hopkins presents much more of a puzzle for Kessler. Kessler will have to anticipate that Hopkins will try to come up with a plan.

However, going right around Kessler like he did vs Pavlik may not be as effective vs Kessler because Kesslers left is very strong (he just Koed Haussler with the left). So then Hopkins can go left, but then he says hello to Kesslers right. Hopkins would have to find a way and I don't think the Pavlik solution would work so well.

    Very interesting fight.

No, Hopkin's would dominate Kessler, not as badly as he dominated Pavlik but mostly, you've got a defensive style which would frustrate Kessler and a jab which could probably keep Kessler's off in the same way that Calzaghe did.

I see it being an easy Hopkins UD, if he is as motivated as he was against Pavlik.

At 168, yes. At 175, no.

    Would Hopkins do 168 now?

Technically it's only 2 off what he just did.

Or maybe another catchweight at 170?

Love to see it though. :happy

At the highest level of competition, 2lbs is significant. Hopkins is a big dude at 175; he was nowhere near as big at 160. 168 splits the difference.

It would bolster Hopkins legacy getting a legit belt at a THIRD division. So far he only has belts in TWO.

Pac, Mayweather, RJJ etc. all are multidivision champions. Hopkins is a solid champ in one division (MW), has ONE LHW fight (Tarver) against a LHW and a couple against people coming up (Calzaghe, Winky and Pavlik). Calzaghe is a solid ONE division champ and is having a couple of LHW fights and a LHW belt.

Both two division champs and long reigns. Hopkins may be able to run ahead in some people's oppinions if he became THREE-division Champion.

Yep, it would be an interesting fight.

Until the LEGEND gets his hands on Mikkel, that is. ;)

Kessler needs to solidify himself as the best supermiddleweight in the world first by fighting the winner of Taylor vs Lacy and Froch vs Pascal.

Anyone notice that Bute has been promoted to number 1 at supermiddleweight on Boxrec after his Andrade 'win'
